Congratulations to CFC for getting us FREE DLC! (the mongols)

Huh. Free as in "I get this for free."? That's nice. Bad thing though that the game itself hasn't hold my attention.

Hey, free stuff, cool!! I'll take a side of delicious Mongols with my freshly-patched AI and diplomacy, thanks Jon! :D

(PS: Is it complaining if you appreciate the free drink the restaurant gave you, but still aren't thrilled that they overcooked your steak?) ;)

there is nary a crime that approaches the heinousness of over cooking a steak

They did not have the time to implement a properly working diplomacy system and fix the major bugs, but they had the time do work on DLC?

Money rules the world...

I dont know if you pay attention to the gaming blogs or anything but there have been some good rants the past few weeks by employees at major game studios outlining problems with corporate cultures and the like. This probably applies with 2k as well

how do you download a DLC? i cannot find any indication of downloading DLC on steam.

Did you miss the part where said DLC is free?

...in any case, diplomacy and major bugs are almost entirely designer/programmer time, whereas implementing new civs is largely art time. It's (mostly) a different set of people working on this DLC from those working on things like diplomacy.

They give it away for free... the only thing that cost is babylon that they did before release... and alot of the work on a new civ is art work and not balancing stuff...

C'mon now, completely different teams. You don't need AI programmers to develop a new civ. What are the artists and modelers supposed to do while the programmers fix the game? You are fire them all until the game is fixed, then hire them again?

Well, I for one can understand the anger. The ultra-special digital whatchamacallit edition wasn't even available in my area. I was angry. But, I still got a copy of the game itself so it was no big :D

Now, this happens. I think the problem is the wording. The CE people were told that their first dlc would be free, which it is, but what they weren't told is that the fist dlc would be available to everyone. The inference being that the first PAID dlc they would be able to get for free.

Even I'm mad and I got the standard edition. I hope 2K has some explanation/calrification coming real soon about this. I, as a SE owner, shouldn't be able to access the same perks that people who paid a lot more than I did for those bonuses.

First, try NOT being so condescending. I'm not some wingnut conspiracy theorist. I just think a lot of people are buying into an obvious ego-stroke on 2K's part.

It seems FAR too coincidental to me that D2D had this offer, and now 2K is saying "oh yeah, this is all because we value your community SO much." Sounds like as much bunk to me. And this will be the last time I bother responding to you, since it seems you can't help but to be uncivil.

Perhaps you're jumping the gun a bit? This news just came out. Don't you think it's possible that D2D will offer the NEXT dlc for free? So, basically you'd get this GK/Mongols one for free and then the NEXT dlc would also be free for you D2D buyers.

I would be happy for free dlc too, if not for the fact that I bought into a promo for a first dlc free, when it was in fact already PLANNED to be free. You don't see problem with that?

For the record, despite ciV's problems with bugs/diplomacy (I'm still having fun with it, though), this is the first complaint I have vocalized. Issues with the game are highly subjective. Deceptive marketing is a completely different story.

It would seem to be just as likely this is damage control for a game people are complaining about, than anything else. Or possibly the dawning realization that they can't uphold their DLC system with Mod support being any good.

If this wasn't done on purpose, then it really isn't that bad.

 Uncivil? Condescending? I know you're not responding to me, but I can't even figure out what part of the post would be considered so or why you'd assume that was my tone, when that was hardly my intention.

Am I the only one who has a problem with a mod trolling every other thread to trash the devs?

What about the Spanish Oh no how could they not include the one of the most powerful of all european civilizations? Oh no! How dare they i'm not playin until I get Spain!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's very probable Genghis was going to be a paid DLC, but with the uproar of civ 5, I think they will try to appease fans with it being, supposedly, free.

unfortunately, you can't fix game mechanics with add on civs. As it is, I am upset that companies now focus making their money on DLC sales.

They give it away for free...

That's because of the not really good launch, not because they are so nice and love the community.

Should i show you some of the graphical bugs we have :D (there are some)?

But seriously: It doesn't have a good taste.

No, didn't follow any blogs, but i'm not supprised at all.

And i think what i stated is obvious :dunno:.

Maybe they were going to sell Babylon and Mongolia for 2.50$ each.
Then they decided to sells Babylon for 5$ and give Mongolia for free as an apology or bribe.
