With 5 or the variables now filled in, I can now solidify my full game strategy.
The settler (assuming we get one) should move 2 tiles to the north since if you squint *very* *VERY* hard, spots will appear on the back of your eyelids somewhat in the form of 2 wheats and a cow.
The first settler produced will then move either direct east or west to found a coastal city. (I choose East/West since statistics prove that over 72% of all previous games of the month had water in one of these two directions, and a further 38% actually had water in both directions of the starting location.)
There is a 12.5% chance that the first luxury resource to be encountered will be..... drum roll..... wine. Based upon the minimap information provided so far, this luxury should be within 0 to 40 tiles of our starting position.
Since 60% of the map is covered by water, naval battles must be a key part of any longer term strategy. For this we should work on Map Making either before or after some of the other Ancient Age techs.
Ainwood has not provided us with the "map age" but I would predict that it should be no more than 10 months old, with a good chance of it being less than six. This is perhaps the most critical variable needed to plan the game as any maps generated less than 6 months ago would include the ARP technique. ARP, or Aggravating Resource Placement, is where Ainwood deprives the human player of certain unimportant resources such as iron or horses.
One important item to note is that normally there is a 16.6% chance that a civilization will have one of the 6 key Civ traits. Those being Scientific, Expansionist, Militaristic, Commercial, Industrial, or Religious. Since Ainwood has eliminated one of those 6 by assigning it as trait #1, that increases the probability of each of the remaining traits by 3.4% to give us a total of 20%. This is a full 1/5 increase in probability for any of the remaining 5 traits or 120% the origional value. This increase in probability of the remaining 5 traits is matched by a 16.6% decrease in the probability that trait 2 would also be Expansionist. A full 100% decrease!!!!
I am still waiting to find out the map configuration. Of the three choices available, my strategy would have to be modified as follows;
- pangea - My goal here would be to dominate the largest land mass.
- continents - Continents would lead me to dominate first one continent, then to repeat this strategy on other continents
- islands - Here I would choose to dominate individual islands until total domination occurs.
