Considering Spore is such a failure, do you think it is still worth a subforum?

To be honest, i can't see that this game may have a big, dedicated fanbase (unless it's for making creatures) for a long time.

It is not a failure, same stages lack things but i have many people say they love a stage and hate the rest, but as shown by the Best Stage thread, there is a diverse range of love hate stages. Some people think it is a failure, some people love the game. It has already got many more post then some of the other games in the OTHER GAME forum.

Look at the sales numbers in a few weeks. You may be surprised to find that it is selling well.

That would not be surprising as people are unlikely to return the game even if they are ultimately disappointed by it and this probably wouldn't be reflected into the sales figures anyway. Given all the hype it should sell very well although people might be a bit cautious when they release one of the famous expansions.

Still doesnt mean it's good. Halo 3 sold like hotcakes yet it was barely mediocre in quality.

I like spore. It's a good game - what are you smoking

This subforum will probably go the way of the Sid Meier's Railroads subforum - eventually, all the complainers will get bored and leave, and it'll be quiet, but not dead. So TF may as well leave it here.

Perhaps move it below NES, though, because NES is (or will be) more active.

Wait how come we want to get rid of the Spore subforum but Sim Meier's Railroads and Rise of Nations are still up?

I think the Spore subforum will serve as a place to put our AAR's if we so like.

What are you taking about? Spore is an amazing game. You might not like it, but that doesn't mean everyone hates it. The thing with Spore is it caters more to the builder/creater-type and less to the action/event-type. Sure, it might not be worth hours of playtime on end, but I can easilly see myself going back and playing it a few hours each week.

Nah, I will play Spore on a monthly basis for the future, probably creating random things to pass time at times. And I find it nice to have a place to discuss it here, especially to check on other people's creatures and stuff.

Agreed- I would say that Spore, while not everything I hoped and dreamed, is still a damn good game that I am still just beginning to play.

Saying it is a failure is subject to opinion. Since there are a lot of Spore fans here on CFC, the forum should stay open. Should the Civ I forum be closed? That can't be frequented that often now.

What was it supposed to deliver on 05? Oh wise one

I disagree.
Nope, I think this is an absolute failure.
Potential or not, this game sucks.
Purely.

I love this game, but then I can still play rail road tycoon and sim city for hours. I don't play games every day so maybe thats why it isn't getting on me that I don't like tribal that much, but the other stages more than make up for it to me.

A lot of people think civ 4 sucks, or think bts sucks.

My nephew loves Civ 4 AND bts. In fact, it's the most underrated game of my family line. Had they knew the potential, they would ditch the 2nd rate The Sims 2 from thier minds.

I do feel some games are too in-depth for them, and some refuse to catch the steep learning curb, even if the game is overall a far superior game.

Spore is a complete and utter failure gameplay wise, even with it's patch. And EA should avoid even considering accommodating making a sequel.

Oh, I think we'll see tons of expansions before a sequel.

EA doesn't care if a game is good or bad. All that's important is that it sells well. There's no art in Electronic Arts anymore.
