Contractor - Remote Mining !

I don't understand...it says the Contractor needs the Commerce Tech? I don't see the Commerce Tech. Also, the Boat one isn't appearing at all ( I have researched Navigation). Have I installed it wrong??

Sorry, Currency tech (Medieval period), not Commerce. I guess they changed it with last patch or maybe I wasn't paying attention.

The boat and contractor might appear at the very bottom of your units list (at least for me), and also should be shown in the tech tree. If they don't appear, what other mods are you using?

I disabled all other mods and it still doesn't work.

EDIT: It works now! When I installed it I must have put the XML folder into another XML folder! I got rid of that folder, installed it again and it works wonderfully! Thank you so much for this mod!
 
Hey I was wondering if this mod would be compatible with the latest patch, and if you'd be updating it any further? I'm curious about this - were you able to get AI to use these units outside of their territory?

I just downloaded this mod and I got contractor in game but it doesn't have the option to operate the resource. Any ideas what's wrong?

You build the improvement first and when that's done, the operate option becomes available.

When you select operate, you'll get a message asking if you're sure you wish to change the improvement, just click yes and the contractor works the resource, adding it to your civ's resources.

I can't use a worker to build the improvement as the resource is outside of my border. Contractor has no options for building any improvements.

I'm having the same problem...I can build/purchase contractors but when they arrive at the resource I want worked they dont have the options to build or work the tile.
 
This is by far the most favorite mod so far. I am a big fan of one city challenge, so to be able to mine outside my borders makes it a whole lot more fun. Its real interesting seeing how the AI leaders react when you are taking resources near their borders. It has lead to some interesting conflicts. It also gives a whole new meaning to barbarians. Try to send a contractor out a good ways from your city and try protecting it from barbarians. If you want have some real fun, go ahead and add the setting to add crazy amount of barbarians. You won't even bother with he other countries because you'll be so focused in protecting your contractors.

The only thing I would like is to add food gathering as well. Allow contractors to build farms and camps to gather thing such as wheat, furs, horses, cattle, and ivory. And the factory ships to be able to gather fish for food. In the modern ere fishing is a huge commodity in the world. Basically giving them all same abilities as workers just able to work past borders for us one city challengers.
 
great mod couldnt play without it, it adds so much fun especially to the fight for oil in the Industrial era

but i have a little big suggestion, couldnt you change the Drillship Artinfo to something like "embarked unit" grafiks or something else that looks more like an actual Drillship http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drillship
and the Offshore platform it builds invisible, would look much more realistic just a small idea :p
 
Updated ! Version 2.3 is out

Updated to be compatible with G&K as well as Vanilla. Should work with other mods which add new resources to the game.

Sorry for being away for awhile - I'm back now and will keep this mod updated. Please, report bugs and any balance considerations.

The cost of contractor/drillship is now reduced. This cost actually scales with the size of your empire. So, is you like conquest, contractors will be more expensive than for a small "focused" empire.
 
It's strange how Civilisation ends up looking a lot like real global politics after a while. I remember one time when I had to take over a city state because of oil. Sound familiar?
