The ancient Greek and Spartan minimalistic uniforms are pure masochisme. So it is with the Japanese samurai, but I'm not sure that their traditional armour/gowns/hairstyles etc. would qualify as a uniform.

I've always beeen fascinated with the galla uniform of the French Foreign Legionaries.

Navy Dress Whites are good, but they lack the rank insignias on the arms, the contrasting belt/gloves/hat and the Blood Stripe on the legs, all of which I think looks great:

USMC Dress Blue-White uniform is the coolest by far. The Dress Blues are a close second.
