The ancient Greek and Spartan minimalistic uniforms are pure masochisme. So it is with the Japanese samurai, but I'm not sure that their traditional armour/gowns/hairstyles etc. would qualify as a uniform.

I've always beeen fascinated with the galla uniform of the French Foreign Legionaries.

the uniforms are really for tourists, wouldnt mess with those guys special forces training, real weapons hidden away and they have massive pikes

US Paratrooper (Airborne AND Infantry)

Aside from the red beret, we wear jump boots with our dress uniforms.

If you are not infantry, you are just a parachutist and your uniform is different (no blue infantry cord, no French thingy/cord and no blue background for stuff.

EDIT: I read that US uniforms are currently changing. The new ones are blue? Of what I've seen so far, the new ones suck bigtime.

The new Army Service Uniform is based on the Army's current dress blue uniform and will replace the white, blue and green service uniforms. Paratroopers are authorized to wear the black combat boots with the new ASU.

Not my favorite, but that is actually traditional. The US Army in the 19th C. had different stripes to represent the soldier's general function----artillery, infantry, etc..

Yellow was cavalry.
