I must say that Jack Churchill is not only cool but fairly crazy (in a good way). Using a claymore and arrows during WWII is just... awesome.

Okay, after having read up on Jack Churchill I have to say he was pretty hardcore. And since we appear to be considering fictional/mythical figures, I would have to say Gideon from the Bible was pretty cool - attacking an enormous army with 300 soldiers, then scaring them off armed with no more than lamps, takes a certain kind of cool.
