Playing on Copa's Deity Story Challenge. This is my first time ever playing on Deity and it's... it's pretty embarrassing :). Well, here we go:

Darkness. If there was one word to describe the time before time it would be darkness. Out of the darkness, the gods Uranus and Gaea were formed. Uranus and Gaea were soon wed and their children, the Titans, ruled the world. It was a difficult time, as the Titan King Cronus was very corrupt and feared his children murdering him and taking the throne so he ate them all. His wife, Rhea, with help form Gaea, managed to save the youngest child, Zeus. After growing up, Zeus tricked Cronus into vomiting his siblings up and together they formed an army and cast the Titans into Tartarus, the deepest pit in Hades. Now a glorious era was born. The gods then created man, who spread across the world like a wild fire. But man too became corrupt like Cronus and the gods convened and argued about the solution.
"Kill them all!" bellowed Poseidon the Earthshaker.
"Feed them to the Giants!" screamed Ares the Bloodthirsty.
"No," argued Athena the Wise, "Let us create a new race of man, a race to teach the others and lead them." Zeus agreed with Athena and together all the gods created the Greeks, a light upon the other nations. The Greeks were loyal to the gods and the city Athena built for them on the banks of a great river was named after the gods' royal palace, Olympus.

The Greeks lived in peace, yet starvation was rampant. Demeter the Bountiful pitied the poor Greeks and bestowed on them the free tech of Animal Husbandry ((from a native village)).

The Greeks, now full from all the cows, wanted to explore the world. They sent a scout named Theseus out to see the world. The scout stumbled upon the Egyptians, one of the earlier races of man. Their king, Pharaoh Ramesses II, thought himself on par with the gods.

Though peace ruled on Earth, back on Mt. Olympus, Ares the Warmonger still felt a grudge against his rival and half-sister Athena the Greek-Patron. He knew he couldn't harm Athena, she was too sly and clever. Instead, he sent one of his servants, the Bear King, to slay Theseus.

The Greeks mourned for a full year for Theseus and on Mt. Olympus, Athena the Wrathful blamed Ares the Bloodthirsty. It seemed that a war was about to break out between the gods. Because of all this discourse above, the gods forgot about the Titans imprisoned in Hades. But the Titans had not forgotten about the gods. While the gods argued, the Titans managed to break free of their demonic prison and lead an army of monsters and giants to Earth. The Titan King had grown old, and he knew his powers were not as great as they had been once. So instead of rampaging directly to Mt. Olympus, he attacked the Greek Olympus. First, he sent simple minded Cyclopes to attack.

The Greeks fought valiantly and defeated the Cyclopes. Enraged by his loss, Cronus himself, accompanied by his army of giants, assaulted Olympus.

Not even the chosen people of Olympus could fight the Titan King. Cronus burned the city walls with one breathe and his army ripped the foundations of its temples. Cronus himself beheaded the Greek king with his mighty scythe. with the fall of the Greeks, the gods too soon fell and the world suffered as fire rained from the heavens and rivers turned to blood. The world was consumed once again by darkness.

"It's time."
The queen smiled and said, "I know."
She rose from her bed and lead by her servant, Iris the Pathfinder, made her way to the deck of the boat. All around, everything was dark. There was no separation between sky and earth; everything was Chaos. The queen knew this place. The memory of Chaos had been passed down from her mother, Rhea, and her mother, the Earth herself. Suddenly, the boat began to shake. It had been sailing on a storm cloud for some time now. Perhaps Chaos had awoken and sensed her presence. She didn't want to take any risks.
"Iris, lower us down."
"Yes, my lady." As the boat sunk beneath the cloud, lightning and thunder sparked all around her. As she saw the electricity swirl around her, a tear escaped her eyes. Another memory, she thought, it's just a memory. No time to waste on it. Soon, the boat had made its way underneath the cloud.
"Here," she said and the boat stopped. Iris ran into the main cabin, colorful lights playing at her feet as she ran. She returned with a box labeled Pandora. The queen opened the box and from it created a spotlight. The light broke through the darkness. All around her, she saw clouds lowering themselves and forming shapes. Chaos, she thought, he's awakening. She closed the box and grabbed her spear. Then, she threw the box in the air and speared it. Now, instead of just a spotlight, a supernova of light erupted from the pierced box. She wove her hand and the light obeyed. She threw the light at the clouds, which backed away. Next, she threw the light at the ground, where it formed Earth. Again, she launched it at the sky, which formed Sky. Soon, Sea, Air, and Nature grew out of the light. A great river soon trickled over to the boat. The queen stepped off the boat and onto land, followed by Iris. The queen pulled a rock out of her pocket. and examined it. it was no rock though. This was celestial clay, the only remnant of the past world. She placed the clay in the water and watched as shapes began to swirl in the river. She had created Man. Next, the queen commanded Man to build a city. The queen called the city New Olympus, in memory of the past one.
"What next, my... my... um, I don't even know your name!" said Man.
The queen smiled, but it was not a warm smile. It was cold and harsh.
"Call me Juno the Creator. Hera the Mother is no more. When Cronus began his genocide of the gods, Zeus the Sky Commander told me to flee. I refused. As Queen of Families, my place was here, with MY family. He told me we would not survive here. He gave me Pandora's Box and his spear. His brother, Poseidon the Tide Sailor, was near by and gave me his boat, the Argo. So, I took my servant Iris the Rainbow Runner and left Mt. Olympus. I sailed for eons, till I reached the end of Uranus where I found a whole new world. This world. And in this world, I am the Creator. Here I am Juno, the Man Maker, and you shall bow to me!"

:goodjob: Does that mean that this lives?

The New Olympus. In every way the equal of the previous one, and in some ways even surpassing it, the most notable difference being that one is rubble and the other is not :). Built on the shores of the great River Styx, N.O. quickly became a shining metropolis for the coastal Junites (named after their patron goddess, Juno). At first, the Junites were river fishermen who could fish right out of their houses and unto the River Styx.

Soon, overfishing became a problem and the citizens of N.O. turned to Juno for help. Juno asked her servant Iris for help. Iris reminded the Queen of how this same problem arose the previous time and of the solution (Demeter the Bountiful had given man the power of Animal Husbandry). Juno flew down to Earth and disguised herself as an elderly woman named Ceres. Ceres taught the young Junites how to farm and how to raise cattle and horses. After teaching the Junites, Ceres disappeared. Many people believed Ceres to be a goddess separate (yet below) Juno and she became Ceres the Bountiful, goddess of agriculture.

New Olympus continued to grow and the civilization of the Junites became a major player in the region. So much so that the Egyptians, the superpower of the continent, came and established an embassy in New Olympus.

Of course, the issue of hunger was not the only recurring theme from the last time the gods created the Greeks. Once again, Ursis, the Bear King, killed Junite scouts in the frigid north.

Will history truly repeat itself and will the Barbarians conquer civilization AGAIN? Stay tuned to find out!

civ4screenshot0177.jpg

The first barbarian archer appears on the horizon! Will history repeat itself?!

civ4screenshot0178.jpg

It appears that the Barbarian Hordes approach, as Memphis falls to the clutches of the foe.

civ4screenshot0180.jpg

Thanks be to Juno, we found iron! With this powerful new metal, we will fight for the glory of New Olympus and the Great Queen!

civ4screenshot0181.jpg

The glory of Juno was clearly seen when the Junites founded their second great metropolis, JUNOPOLIS! named after the Queen herself, Junopolis quickly became a thriving city because of the flooded plains near it.

civ4screenshot0182.jpg

According to Lord McCauly, Ramesses' army is "Puny". If so, what do you call this army near Junopolis?

Where are all the barbs? at this point almost every square around my city had loads on.

This game was the polar opposite of the last. Not a single barb entered my turf and now Rammy owns all of the island except for my part so no more barbs
