Delware established Fort Denmark and Fort London
Delaware soldiers unloaded the necessary tools and equipment from the fleet that was sent with them and established two forts last year, Fulbjerg and London. Fulbjerg is situated by itself on a peninsula named Denmark not far from Southampton. The land it is situated on consists of rolling hills and cold beaches. So far, native resistance has been slim to none, as many do not live in this desolate area. However, many Lenopian (plural Delaware people) families have already bough tickets for a boat ride to Denmark, the fort being fully equipped to protect the families. Land is available to buy there for the cheapest amount anywhere in the world, and it is fertile. London was established along what the natives call the River Thames. It is but a couple miles from Port Southampton, and is expected to strengthen the presense of Delaware in New Delaware (Britain). Native resistance around Fort London is relativly larger then the two other Lenopian forts, but it is also stronger.
Bank of Delaware wanting payment
A couple years ago the Delaware government took out a huge loan from the national bank. The bank has yet to see a cent paid back to them. While the entire loan is not expected to be paid off for another couple decades, the bank is worried that if the payments aren't started early, then the due date will not be met.
"I just want what is best for my country. If the government doesn't start spending soon, then they may slip into debt when the deadline rolls around." Explains Charles Malaimei, CEO of the national bank. There is even a rumor of the government taking out a second loan, but we have yet to confirm this.
Lenopian Army Reaches a New Hieght
It wasn't expected to happen, but a huge increase in the army has taken place, past recent expectations. The army of Delaware has soared to 2,000 enlisted and armed men, both on horse and on foot. The Marine force, being comprised of a Frigate and Galleon fleet has also been reinforced to protect the nation of Delaware and it's peoples and assets. Already a force has been sent to Port Southampton to help gaurd the new town, and to provide a sense or protection and national identity.
Many Depart for What is Known as the "New Life Voyage"
Many families begin to depart for the town of Port Southampton, seeking a new begining. And it is true, Port Southampton is offering a new start for many people by offering close-to-free land, a steady new market for commercial use, free of corporates and CEO's, and a completely new community, much who will be there for the same reasons you are there. It is a once in a life time opportunity, and it is filling up quick. The Port has already begun to number in the hundreds of people, and with the wave of "refugees" arriving every month, it is expected to break into a thousand within the next decade. Bergoa Desma, the mayor of Port Southampton and the general of the 1st army which is stationed at Fort Southampton is quoted enthusiastically,
"Despite the huge population drive, our town is still in fine condition. The pebble-stone streets never looked better, and our new Bank of New Delaware is sponsering many small loans for families who need a new start. It is a great time, and we are welcoming much more."
Port Fulbjerg?
The government has put out the speculation of building a new harbor at Fort Fulbjerg within the very near future. Such a harbor would greatly increase the amount of settlers going to that area, and would most likely soon give away to a new town, the first American town upon the New World mainland. No official word has been given yet, but the Delaware Times will keep you updated on this very exciting moment in Delaware history.
