Delaware Times
New Delaware is Established
The first fort of what is to become the New Delaware Colony was established this year in what is now named Southampton. Fort Southampton is located upon a hill that has a clear view of the route to the sea, where a harbor has been constructed to allow for a easy shipment of goods from Delaware homeland. The fort bolsters a full regiment of five hundred men, ready to defend the claims of their homeland. On the same island as Fort Southampton, the Arawaks have seemed to establish a similar fort in the north, within the rocky terrain of what Delaware calls the "Outer Country". A colonial town is expected to be constructed soon, attracting many who seek religious freedom and an economic reform.
Southampton - the "loan" Colony
The funds for starting a colony is very expensive, even more so then the government has to spend at the moment, and yet the New Delaware colony must be made as soon as possible - it is vital to the growth of future Delaware. That is why Parliament has already enacted the creation of a government bank branch of the United Delaware Treasury Socieities. This is the number one bank in Delaware, and the act creates a special branch of this bank for the specific use of the government. This branch has the power to grant loans to the government and the possibilty to cease lands should the payment not be repayed. Already the government has taken a loan from them, twenty thousand dels have been made out to the government, expecting to be repayed within [twenty] turns.
