Core

Ray heard the man Joe had stopped. "What? What do you say, what's happening?"

Geoffrey listened to the thud. What is that? I'm fairly sure it's not a boat, there's almost no fuel. Geoffrey paced around the room, looking at the artwork, looking for clues. "Have you ever tried to get to the ceiling and find the source of the noise? Also, why exactly would everybody die if this thing, whatever it may be, isn't stopped?"

"Listen here you scum! Are you part of the Russian Mafia? And what is going on outside?"
He looked at Ray
"Some idiot thinks he can come here and do anything he wants"

Ray:

The man panicked for a second.
"Metal! Freaking metal is attacking people!"

Geoff:
The man frowned.
"I don't know where it is, but I know what it is. The defense systems of Core. One of the systems is broken, and it's started attacking people in the city."

Joseph looked at Ray.
Metal? What are they going on about?

"No!"
Joseph remembered now. He remembered that day.
"But he destroyed it...it was destroyed."
He looked at Zirkhov.
"Tell me everything you know!"

Defense systems of Core. What does he think I'll be good for, testing them? Geoffrey stood silently for a little while then said "Well, what am I supposed to do about it? I don't know anything about Core's defenses!"

Ray and Joseph:

Zhirkov panicked, and started babbling.

"I don't know! Someone went near the Third Wall, and freaking metal is following us now! I have no bloody idea! Little chunks are just cutting people apart!"

Geoff:

"Neither do I, but you're job is to find stuff out."

Spoiler :
The defenses aren't actually malfunctioning, but the men down below don't know that

Joseph went deep into thought...they stopped it. He saw them stop it. Why did it come back?
"Was this because of Vasseliev!? Tell me know or I will blow your brains till kingdom come!"

"God" he muttered. "Good God, the defence systems of Core! ThUnder the hatch, let's pull it the three of us, come on!" Ray's mind was aching less and less, but now it was filled with dashing thoughts crossing his mind as fast as lightning. "But how is it that they have come to the innermost circle? Why have the crossed TWO WALLS to come after him, or whoever?" Ray was already rushing to the hatch.

Vasiliy hesitated before he spoke up. He was in the company of powerful men, men who probably knew a hell of a lot more than he did. But he was in this room for a reason, wasn't he? And as long as he was in here at the Italian Don's own request, he was gonna find out what was going on. He asked, "Who are the Black Snakes? Some other gang?"

Ray and Joseph:

The man is hysterical.
"I don't know, just let me the f*** out of here!!"

Vasiliy:
Alessandri leans forwards.
"The Black Snakes were... assassins. Very dangerous. The police and mafia decided together that we wanted them gone."

Vassiliev growled.
"And Alessandri decided he wanted to keep their equipment around, and not chase a few who were... damaged, shall we say?"

"To hell with Jose! I don't know who he is, but if that man is telling the truth, a missile could enter through that door at any second, and whatever lays under that hatch might be our only way to survive!" Ray's mind was absolutely clear now. He was with an unknown man with split personality and possibly with a mobster too.

"Jose is the key to opening that door! This is his hatch, whether he knows it or not! He was the last Black Snake alive and the only other one but me. So f*** the hatch, f*** protection and f*** those f***ing machines!
When he said Black Snake, Zhirkov winced. Joseph took out his MP5 and pointed it at Zirkhov.

"They sent you here to see if I was alive...didn't they?"

"You got me there, I'll find the answers, at least I'd better find some answers, for the sake of us all. Now, it'll be a lot easier to find answers on the surface, can we go up now?"

As Joseph raised his gun, the metallic objects raced into the room, and tore him to shreds. His screams reverberated around the tiny shack, sending Zirkhov and Ray scattering.

My policy on PC deaths: If your char dies, you are absolutely free to claim a new one.

The man nodded to Geoff, but motioned to be careful. Together, the three men embarked for the surface.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because you rolled a 1/100. Sorry, man. You can take Zirkhov, if you want, or create a completely new character.
