Is it too late to start COTM?

No - You've got about another week to play. Since this game is at SID, the tech pace will be quicker than most and there's also a chance one of the AI will suddenly decide they don't like you and the game will end soon after that.

There's probably not any chance of winning but it might help increase my skill level some and it will be interesting to compare notes.
