Could you take on a raptor with a suit of platemail and a sword

:hmm: I dunno either chicken or snake (not that I have had snake of course:mischief:).

If you could get in a quick shot at it's neck, you could probably take it.

You could pour rat poison or something all over your body so when it eats you (hopefully it doesn't chew to much:p) it dies of being food poisoned or at least vomits you up in response to poison being in its system:o.

I don't know about you, but I have very little experience wielding a sword while being weighted down by plate armor.
Have you more experience wielding a sword while NOT being weighted down by plate armor?

Fallen Angel Lord:
I have been a member of this site for nearly 4 years now, and I can tell you that this is the BEST thread topic i have ever seen. :goodjob:

on topic. i'm just not sure how those claws would go against full on plate metal. would it open it like a can, or just not get in at all? i really couldn't tell. also i think raptors would tend to go for disabling attacks, like hamstrings or achilles tendon so would need to know that i'm covered there. also would say that since i'm wearing full armour, i might as well go for a fricken huge bludgeoning weapon like a mace or something. or a warhammer. it's going to be quicker than you, but i don't know if it would dodge instinctively. just want to whack it once and take it out.

so yeah, i think i could take one. :) that is assuming i could move at all.

also, i'm assuming that i'm wearing the plate mail and bearing the sword, rather than the raptor. the thread topic is kind of ambiguous on that front. If the raptor was wearing plate mail and somehow wielding a sword, i'd have not a hope at all. :(

I'd stick with my trusty shotgun but yeah a shining star or a lance probably wouldn't be too bad either.

I would do it, But I would let someone else fight it first and watch becuase we have absolutely no clue how a raptor acts and reacts or how it even behaves in general, IMO, a bunch of guys stand around some bones and assuming a bunch of mostly BS isnt proof of how they acted. I always hated it when scientists did that crap, how the hell do you know it was a pack hunter, for all we know it could have been a clubber who likes to lounge around with Ts all day. As fotr the would I go and watch, yes, with my PSG-1(dont actually have one of course) and take out the dinosuar.

Since when is it weighted down?Compared to no armor yes you obviousely weigh less, but that whole "armor" is heavy thing is a completel myth, armors surprisingly light, now in terms of comfort......well thats a whole diffrerent story.

Hehe, you got me there. :) Other than a ceremonial sword, I've never handled one.

actually to be perfectloy honest, Ide rather use my DS knife than any kind of sword, more comfortable with a knife, have used one for way longer than a sword, plus other things
1.Bleed pocket
2.Black Steel
3.Double wind tipped edge
4.Helluva lot less easier to not lose or get knocked out of your hand

I think the worst is the heat (especially as you should wear some padded clothes to avoid chaffing). And the smell which is a result of the heat.

But the body in the oven. Make it run a little, let it stew a bit...

I don't even want to speak of any urgent need to pee. :mischief:

YOu don't need a weapon: just sneeze on them! Seeing as how thier immune systems are geared to the Cretaceous, one well placed bit of mucous would probably given them 40 diseases right off the bat. Just don't let them sneeze on you...

I could do it, but I have trained and fought with swords for five years now. I wouldn't mind a shield though... My sword of choice would be a short, stabbing sword.

Just before it hit's you, leap forward and bash it with the shield-buckle in the center-left (your left) while croucthing a little and stab it in the stomac with your sword. You might take a wound in the shield-arm if it attacks there, and you will most likely fall over as a result of the clash, but not before you've planted that sword in it's belly where it belongs.
