Crack... WoW

I don't want to bother with MMORPGs anymore, maybe a free one, but I just can't stand the monthly fees. I know they're needed to run the servers, but I just don't like them.
That's the only argument I accept against getting WoW. Damn my brother for tricking me into playing this game. It's almost as addicting as Civ, believe it or not.

Addictive (fun?) games with no real end that you pay, often monthly, fees for?!

I've played many an MMO in my day. They are certainly addictive and they certainly have their moments of genuine fun. However, I realized that the majority of the time I spent playing was simply going through the motions, and not really having "fun". In some ways, it kinda reminds me of sitting in front of a keno or slot machine for hours on end (keep pulling that lever, hoping some "fun" will materialize).

It also doesn't help that, at the core level, they're all nearly identical (kill, level, amass "stuff") w/ the expection of a few bells and whistles and, if you're lucky, a novel mechanic or two.

It's for this reason that I didn't even look at WoW or EQ2 or any of the "new" MMOs. Been there, done that -- as they say.

Hoho! Watch out! I have another Level 60 Character in the making!

This is her around level 40-45 in the picture I think. She's already 49 and has a set of templar armor to wear. If you can find the url for this picture, feel free to browse my /olathe and /wow directories for more of my fun World of Warcraft stuff. :D

One of my guildies has uploaded a video of their fight against Ragnaros. Here's the link if anyone wants to take a look.

Mmmm I'll get Ragnaros someday and hopefully he'll drop his eye! Then I can make a Sulfuron Hammer and ultimately SULFURAS, HAND OF RAGNAROS!

It'll be sweet. :D

Also an epic mount eh Thrawn? ;)

Its called "grind", i,e grinding your way to the next level it becomes almost like a heavy task. Once you experience it as ineviablely you do. Time to move on

I'm on Shadow Council. Won't go on other servers unless Civ/WoW players come up with a server we can get together on and found a Civ guild. :D
