Hey.
I have the Complete edition of Civilization IV, which I got from my friend.
I have an interest in playing Beyond the Sword the most, because it features one of my heroes, Charles de Gaulle.
However, selecting "French Empire" on the "Play Now!" submenu shows a black box where de Gaulle's portrait would be, and shortly after selecting it, the game immediately crashes, with no specific error message (sans the "This program has stopped responding..." crap).
Unusually, I can access every other Empire just fine; only selecting the French Empire causes crashes. Meeting de Gaulle, Napoleon or Louis the XIV in ordinary gameplay also causes the game to crash.
Furthermore, in vanilla Civ IV and Warlords, the French Empire is usable, and I have experienced no problems with it yet.
Can anyone help me with this bizarre issue?
I'm using Windows 7 32 Bit, nVidia graphics card, an AMD processor...and I think that's about it.
