The Norwegians Refuse again!

Spoiler :
800px-Eskimo_Family_NGM-v31-p564.jpg

A Norwegian family, huddled in poverty and cultureless inside a thin shack.

The Norway people have no culture at all and look up to us as friends. Yet they still refuse to join our union of people. They are not rich or poor but evidently they lack culture. They don’t have a commen feeling for the past nor a united idea for the future. Yet they still refuse to join us and escape the cold winters in their huts for a warm cabin.

The Guild Houses are Being Built!
Spoiler :
IMG_0749.JPG

The Guild House of Minute Machinery, they specialize in making the Clocks and Spring-Powered Autocarts.

The Guild Houses are a wonder of this world! All over the Union of European Peoples these monolithic workshops are rising, containing the large and growing legions of Guildmen that once reside in the few White Towers at London, the Cloth halls of Flanders and the Harbor at Liverpool. The guilds are borrowing government money to build these structures that will stand the test of time and increase not only our economy, but our production. Yes, it is estimated the growth of these guilds will at least double the Ice Cream production and can triple the Parchment production!

Writer consficated!

A writer, spewing lies from the Nates News, was taken away by the government to be sent to live 30 years with the 'cultureless' Hellenic. As we know, the never been there before and although we don't admire them we know their weapons are better than ours.

Any answer to my questions, Crezth?
What questions? Greenland? That colony was destroyed by the same storm system that destroyed the Azores. It's also very cold up there.

What storm system? And anyway, there are still several questions that haven't been answered:
a) Where did my colony in Greenland go? Last turn, I had quite the nice colony in there.
b) "Used to warm weather"? My people have been living in Iceland and Ireland for 2 centuries!! Don't tell me that my sailors are not used to cold, they have navigated the North Atlantic waters for years!
c) I am missing 5 gold in my investing in technology, it should be at 10/15, not 5/15.
d) What does the "Recession!" thing in my stats mean? Are my growth points starting to go down?
e) It's been centuries since I the last time I saw my nation getting more growth from trade.
f) We STILL need some Iron Age and Classical Age wonders! And you should also update the list of alliances, the Kingdom of Milan doesn't exist anymore and the Three Kings Alliance has probably lost Florida as a member.

a) Lost a la Roanoke.
b) Sure, some of them, but the majority of your sailors come from Iberia. You managed to circumvent that shortcoming in your orders, however.
c) Uh, no. When you stole technology from Florida, you only stole tech points, 4 to be exact. That put you from 1/10 to 5/10, and your 5 tech points added onto that to advance you in age.
d) Yes, you will lose growth points every turn for a few turns, due to the collapse of the Floridian markets.
e) It's been centuries since you've had stable trading going on. The Asian War is disrupting that handily. Moreover, I no longer report growth points that nations gain from trading, it's assumed.
f) No, we don't. Plus, nobody is in the Classical Age yet. Finally, the Floridian Empire, successor to Florida, is the honorary member of the TKA. You're correct about the Mediterranean alliance, though.

a) All right. Then I hope that it is colonised again, and that the town is built like it is mentioned in my last story, to withstand hurricanes and the like.
b) Don't understand that part, but hoping that my new idea works.
c) Uh, ok, then modify my orders accordingly. Could have explained that part before, because I yhought that stealing the tech would be really stealing the tech.
d) How many turns will that be?
e) OK. Then the Colossus would be quite a stupid thing to do, I presume, if you aren't going to give out growth points from trade anymore.
f) Iron Age wonders are needed, however. You should also better be preparing the Classical Age wonders, because there are a couple of people about to reach said age (myself included).

Crezth says he'll no longer report the growth points from trade. That doesn't mean that you won't get growth points from trade, I presume.

From Jasiran
To Empire of the Rising Sun

If you give us Java, we are willing to help you on both fronts.

Any intervention on your side against Wu will be met with a declaration of war from Koryo. Just because I settled peace with Nippon doesn't mean I am no longer allied with Wu.

Crezch should post general trade agreements.

To Norway
From Union of European Peoples

Do you wish to trade? Or do you wish to join us? I rather you join us any day.

If not we still wish to trade.

(I will send last turn's orders and stat adjustments:/)

That would work really nice, Charles.

I also propose that Crezth gives each nation a special product that only them can produce (it's not as if it would give a lot of growth, just for flavour).

Empire of the Rising Sun: Sushi?

(Anybody noticed that a half of the Floridean successors' names end in 'in'?)
Just a suggestion. :D

@Crezth: would clearly stating in my orders to create a currency change something in the economic level? It's just that I have mentioned several times in orders and messages a currency made of pieces of gold. Answers?

Guys, GUYS, hold on a minute there. This is an ARTOR, no point in over complexifying a simple NES. Most great NESes don't have the kinda crap you're talking about, why make this one nuts?

The Reforms of Yajerus I

i: Yajerus's Rise to Power
During the end of the Machinan dynasty, the country was very unstable. The Foriegn Interest (an economic coalition of the four cities outside the "Core regions" of OTL NT) was demanding greater representation in Parliament (which they were willing to give) and recognition amongst the de facto nobility (which they weren't).

As predicted, the influence of the President was enough to swing the balance in the event of civil war. But the sheer size of the country meant that supressing the revolts was dependent upon the navy, which therefore demanded political concessions. While these were met halfway, the humiliation destroyed the dynasty's prestige and to the less traditionalist types their "incumbent advantage".

After the defeat of Marcharus (a city in OTL Queensland) in battle, a deal was proposed to Yajerus, a prominent local politican (if a foriegner- his family had migrated from Imperial territory). If he would prevent the fall of the city (a tall order- their armies had already been defeated in battle), they would make him their President. Yajerus, in counter, demanded that they make him their Emperor (the major powers of Wu, the Empire of the Rising Sun, and Bental-Dare all had Emperors at this point). This was, reluctantly, accepted.

Yajerus's counter to the enemy was to appeal to the navy. He offered them a hereditary Admirality and tripled wages if they would defect. They did so, allowing Yajerus to send an army there (if mostly conscripts) to threaten the Northern Interest (as the Foriegn Interest called them). The President of the Manchinan dynasty (Cempus III) tried to forcibly contest this development, but enough soldiers boarded the ships to make such a move tenable.

Cempus actually assaulted the city and won, but Yajerus's followers didn't know this. Taking Bradios and offering them a "free Parliament", Yajerus established a base in the area. He had figured the city would fall, but he now had time- he was going to establish his own empire...

ii: The Reform Acts
Yajerus would soon become the dominant player in Jasiran, making deals with all factions. The Norists were given concessions, the Navy were given concessions, the Army were given concessions, the Foriegn Interest were given concessions- ocassionaly, it was said, a common peasant would be going about his buisness only to find a royal messanger offering him concessions!

But once the country was under his control, Yajerus was determined to reform it. For a start, he saw many institutions as either backward or pointless (the supreme example being Parliament). Second, it would be an excuse to repudiate all the promises he made to various groups. Third, selling titles of nobility was a great way to gain revenue.

Parliament was no longer a source of leigitimacy (he abolished it), but Yajerus did not want to be deposed through the Mandate of Heaven- nor did he want Norist "cosmic forces" dictating policy. Failing these, he decided to appeal to the claim that he was descended from original rulers of Jasiran- therefore he needed no claim of the Mandate of Heaven, and the stigma of his foriegn past was washed away.

In religion, he created New Norism- a form of Norism with Tartessan gods and many ideas superimposed. The idea was that the Tartessan priesthood, being so far away, would not contest his descisions- distance and admiration of his own culture would hopefully fight other Tartesssan influences off as well.

Launching a suprise attack on the navy, he managed to force their concessions away, and decided therefore to rely on the army and the warlords for support. Giving them titles of nobility (most were made Counts, some Dukes- and the unofficial nobility of the cities elected rulers known as Kings), he acknowledged their hereditary status in exchange for support.

The system of Governors was also abolished- they had no real power anyway, and it was incongrous with the new titles. So were the allies that nominally existed in Central Australia- he governed them anyway, so there was no point in his eyes to their independent status.

(To be continued)

@Milarqui: East-west contact is severed.

@Li: That is a good idea. Next update, I will show what the major trading blocs are.

You assume that Orlando wants to contact you, and they don't. Also Zulu and Amazonia have not contacted one another, or at least not in any serious capacity.

BTW Milarqui, I'm having my state convert to a religion strongly influenced by that of Tartessos. What is it's religion?
