CrezNES - Another Return to Our Roots

The Parin Paper

900 A.U.

VICTORY!!!

The Dani-Union War Ended! After many hard-fought battles at Kingston, Haverson, and Flanders itself our brave divisions of the United Army landed at Odense and they, looking at our splendid armor and rich history, bowed before us only after a few battles. This war, which lasted officially from 480 A.U. (After Union) to 9000 A.U. has brought the Union to greater heights. Franks, Celts, Dani and the Channelites all lived under its fair government. To celebrate, the King Henry IV renamed the land the United European Peoples. Long live the King!

Deals With Florida

A Friar's etching of a raid on Parchment, a new Union Export

King Henry also signed a Deal with Florida; called the Agreement of Liverpool they promised responsibility for all Floridinian Pirates in exchange for Gold and respect in Erie. It is hoped that pirates such as the above will never terrorize our lands again!

A Shef of Parchment?

glazing_parchment.jpg

An example of this writing material, currantly too costly for private use. The Parin paper is nailed on the Marketplace central, not to every citizen, until costs go down.

Parchment, an alternative to wood, is discovered from tanned Highland Cowhides. Durable and yet light, these caused a bloom in Celtshire's Economy and allowed to publication of this paper. We pay tribute to an new age! Our exports are now Alcohal, Wool, Linen, Weapons, Tin, Hides, Wood and many other products. A lunatic even claims to freeze cream into a soft drinkable mash! More on that on the Next issue of the PARIN PAPER!

Update 10 - 2000 BC

In 2000 BC, there were 27 active nations, 3 of which were NPC, and 1 of which was destroyed.

ABALONIA: No orders sent, nooo! Holds ground, see special section below on The Trans-Asian War.
ARABIA: Civilizes, kicks Nipponese out of Arabia and benefits immensely from east-west "gateway" trade due to not being involved in the Trans-Asian War. (+1 economy)
BENGAL: Raises a huge army of conscript tiger cavalry, attacks Betal-Dare, see special section below on The Trans-Asian War.
BETAL-DARE: Expands north, attacks Bengal, see special section below on The Trans-Asian War.
EMPIRE OF THE RISING SUN: Continues to expand operations, encounters aggressive (but only to them) Aboriginal barbarians. Attacks Bengal, see special section below on The Trans-Asian War.
JASIRAN: Expands into islands, manages great affinity with natives resulting in high efficiency and turnover rates, exploiting superior cultural levels. Turns over treaty port to Imperial authority. (+2 growth points)
KORYO: No orders sent, banks gold.
WU EMPIRE: Builds up, signs alliance with Koryo. Attempts to spend money on culture which is an unforgivable sin.
HELLENIC REPUBLIC: Counter-attacks Abalonia, see special section below on The Trans-Asian War.
KINGDOM OF MILAN: No orders sent, banks gold.
NORWAY*: Chills out.
RUSSIA*: Is invaded by Teutonia, loses Poland and is put on their toes.
TARTESSOS: Expands and becomes a cultural juggernaut of western Europe, its influence expanding as far east as Abalonia. Culture flips a large swath of Milan land, and "learns" Iron age tech from Floridian settlers in Corunia.
TEUTONIA: Invades Russia, smashes their army and seizes control of Poland.
UNION OF EUROPEAN PEOPLES: Expands, culture-flips Teutonia.
MADAGASKAR: Brave sailors find and expand to isolated islands in the Pacific, evidencing naval superiority. Benefits from trade with Songhai and Zulu. (+2 growth points)
SONGHAI: Expands, benefits from middleman trade between western Europe and Africa. (+4 growth points)
ZULU EMPIRE: Expands north massively, benefits from trade and experiences economic explosion as roads are built connecting Pretoria to the Upper Nile. (+3 economy)
ALASKA: Takes control of northern California.
AMAZONIA: Trades with Florida, expands, and converts several Amazonian tribes who were impressed with the wealth of Amazonia City.
CALIFORNIA*: Utterly destroyed.
CHICAGO CONFEDERATION: Takes control of most of California, emerges as economic power in America.
FLORIDA: Attacks and conquers California, benefits from European trade. (+4 growth points)
MASSACHUSETTS: Crushes California, expands into the northwest.

The Trans-Asian War
Abalonian Front
Hellenic forces attacked Abalonia everywhere this century as the Hellenic navy attacked the Abalonians head-on, smashing the naval defenses before Egypt and landing a force in the delta. Meeting advancing Egyptian troops, the Hellenic assault force moved on the fortified Suez against the Abalonian position. This was a poorly planned move, however, as superior Abalonian numbers held the line, keeping the Suez firmly under Abalonian control.

As for the east, Abalonia had nothing further to fear from Betal-Dare as most Betal-Darese forces were focused on Bengal. That front remained relatively stable throughout the century. (-2 bronze fleets for Abalonia)

Bengal Front
Bengal was assaulted on both ends this year as Imperial forces advanced from their Vietnamese and Chinese strongholds, smashing the pathetic Bengalese garrisons there and making great gains. The Bengalese navy was also endangered as the Imperial fleet descended upon the Bengal ships with ravenous glee: they crushed the Bengals and seized control of the entire Indian ocean, putting the Bengal capitol in jeopardy. Sure enough, the Imperials landed directly in the densely populated and mostly undefended Bengal delta, meeting a single defending army. Although the Bengals defended valiantly, they were ultimately crushed by the Nipponese shock troops who quickly secured the delta, crippling the Bengal industry mightily.

That did not stop the Bengalese forces on the Betal-Darese front from fighting as best they could. A massive tiger corps was assembled to counter the tremendous Betal-Dare military. It was not enough, however, as the Betal-Darese continued to forge ahead, lead by their seemingly immortal and now iron-equipped Immortals. With so much land lost to invaders, the hope for Bengal appears to be fading fast. (-5 bronze armies for Betal-Dare, -7 tiger cavalry, -1 stone army, -1 bronze fleet for Bengal)

RANDOM EVENT: Hurricane Abaddon is felt harshly in Massachusetts, destroying hundreds of ships and wrecking ports. (-4 growth points, -2 iron fleets)

Re: Debts

Greetings, my friends! We hope that you are well and that your health is up to par (I know us is, as the Tartessian cuisine is quite delectable and healthy). However, we fear that this message is not only sent to greet you, but to warn you that there is still an outstanding debt between us, members of the E-MA. We are willing to wait until you are able to pay the money we are indebted, as we are good friends and there is no haste in it.

Union of European People: you owe us 2,000 pieces of gold (2 gold) from the technology we gave you to learn how to melt copper and tin and create bronze weapons and tools.

Kingdom of Milan: you owe us 3,000 pieces of gold (3 gold) for the same reason.

As we said, there is no haste in payment, although we hope that the debt is paid off as soon as possible.

Signed,
King Marco the Sixth of Tartessos

@Crezth: We really need some new wonders for the Iron Age, as well as knowing which is the age that goes after Iron.

A Guide to Tartesia
The Economical Capital of the World

The city of Tartesia, capital of the Kingdom of Tartessos and, according to many experts, the economical capital of the world (the Bolsa del Peñón, known in the Union as Rock Stock Market, is the most influential of the world, its harbours hold many ships and the Strait of Tartessos is witness to much shipping going through it) is nevertheless one of the most ancient cities in the world, which can be seen in the structure of the city center, named Ciudad Vieja by Tartesia's inhabitants. The small houses, painted white to better resist the heat of summer, and piled up to share the heat between houses in winter, is one of the most known sights of the city...

... a big statue in the middle of the Ciudad Vieja gives testimony of the fact that it was there where the Guerrilleros Headquarters stood before being moved to the outskirts of the city. This statue, which represents a warrior armed with the famed axe-knife, protected with the Campustellan alligator iron skin armour and wearing the alligator helmet which made them feared in Europe and Africa as the "Night Monster Warrior" (many children in Asia and Southern Africa are still told night tales of these warriors coming to take them unless they behave well)...

... of course, a visitor can't leave without having visited at least one of the city's tascas, where the best tapas are served by the tasqueros: fried Mediterranean sardines and anchovies, tartesic ham from the Sierra Nevada and from South Western Iberia, bread with oliva oil...

... perhaps the most imposing building of the city is the world-famous Temple of Gaia, the religious center of Gaianism, which receives several millions of visitors each year, among them the followers of the religion, who hold this temple as a sacred place...

... the mixture of architectural styles is quite clear when one sees that the first blocks placed are, artistically speaking, slightly worse than the other blocks, as they were placed in a time where tools weren't advanced enough to give them a shinier appearance...

Provinces of the Union of European Peoples
1000 A.U.

The growth in size of provinces is amazing. Here is the list of the Provinces and their peoples in the UEP. A growing center of trade as well.

Frankia- A Place to grow wine and a growing center of trade as well. This is now a stable area in the Union.

Celtshire- Newest Province, they sell hides and ice in exchange for other goods. They are often the birthplace of many of our soldiers

Celtic Union- Third Province, they are the home of Liverpool and our Union Navy. These areas are also full of farms and workshops.

Rhineland- Our Newest province, Rhine land has many Iron deposites and woodlands, they are very rough people, desended form the teutons.

Daniland- Now a Province, they accepted our culture rather quickly and became a productive member of the Baltic Sea Trade.

Channelittes- Our home, these are the most productive workshops and harbors.

Cities:
Dani Cities are a bit of a Enigma. We are just finishing our census.

Liverpool- Greatest Naval Hub
London- Our Capital, site of the White Towers (:rolleyes:)
Flanders- Our Councilar Capital, home of the greatest Merchant fleet and the best wool in the world!
Nates- the main port for Huse Wine and Huse Oil, a very important product.
Cornwall - The only major supplier of Tin, however everyone seems to work fine with Arsenic... which cornwall also supplies.

The White Towers

The White Towers, also called London Towers or the Union Castle, are built in the 1000 A.U. These towers, enabled by nails are accuracy of Bronze, towered higher and wider than the Moai Statues. Watching over the Thames River in case of more attacks they slowly became centers of writing and learning. The Gold Guild moved into their southern tower and soon they allowed for large markets all across the Northern Channelitte Province. These Towers became the center of Military, Political and Social life in the Channels.
OOC: I don't want to waste a regular wonder yet. I will wait.

Organization of the Kingdom of Tartessos

After the colonization of the island of Eire, the Kingdom was truly gigantic, as it now had control over many zones of Western Europe, being the cultural and economical behemoth of the region and probably the most powerful of all the countries in Europe.

It was then when a new level of organization reached the Kingdom, creating a bureocracy system that still exists to this day. These bureocrats, coming mainly from the lower and middle classes, are always tested in standarized exams held every year in the most important cities of the nation. The new tree of power was like this from then on:

Rey de Tartessos (rules the Alto Consejo del Reino, leads the Army and Navy, hereditary position)
|||
Alto Consejo del Reino (leads the country next to the Rey, the most intelligent and sage of each job career in the whole nation, each Consejero is the leader of said career)
|||
Governadores (chosen by the Alto Consejo, acts as the Rey's representative in each Consejo Regional, leads the militias in the region)
|||
Consejo Regional (like the Alto Consejo, but it acts on a regional level)
|||
Consejo Local (leads one city, only has power over local matters, chosen by popular vote between the members of each career (meaning, the artisans choose one, farmers choose other...) but still their merits count more than anything else)
|||
Bureocrats (take charge of organising archives, arranging dates for the Consejos meetings, attend people with legal problems...)

@Crezth, you really need to run more NESes, this is fantastic!

Wait, what are charges?
