Kurkov Dissolves Duma, Calls for new Constitution
President Kurkov, boosted by relatively high approval ratings, called today for a new constitution that will embody more progressive, liberal ideals. Kurkov said that once a new government is formed under the constitution, Russians can expect a much improved quality of life, along with improved Russian economic and scientific performance.
Polish Communists Attempt to Subvert Belarus
Ultranationalistic Polish Communists, in a vain attempt to reestablish Polish dominance over the region that disappear centuries ago, invaded the Russian republic of Belarus. In Vilnius, Lithuanian nationalists revolted in an attempt to secede from Russia into a new Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. In response, President Kurkov ordered the invasion turned back, and Russian troops captured Warsaw, searching for the expansionistic Chairman Andrzej Idiotyczny. Russia, continuing its program of brining religion to former Communist strongholds, has started construction of a Catholic Church, which Pope John-Paul II is expect to open in the coming months.
Russian Jets Strike Iran, Spetsnaz Commandoes await UN Go-ahead
Iranian troops stationed in Tehran have been crushed by Russian air assaults, and commandoes have parachuted to the outskirts of the city, waiting for approval of the Security Council before entering the city. Kurkov thanked the Chinese for their offer of taking the city, but said it's apparent that Russia needs no help in securing Tehran. Kurkov did however propose joint maneuvers against the large number of Iranian bases throughout the country.
Also in the Persian Gulf, MiG-27s scrambled into northern Iraq, bombarding what appeared to be a Baathist convoy intended to undermine the new government. Russia urges the EU to destoy the remaining outposts in north Iraq. Also, an Su-25 was shot down south of Tehran after attacking an Iranian base.
