So I did a test game for fun. Picked Huayna on a fantasy map. Crazy resources on and those resources were like gold and copper. This means that corporations are going to be sick with culture. To bad rice wasn't the crazy food resource otherwise sids sushi would have also been incredible.

Anyway on to the game. Always peace means that you can concentrate fully on the culture game and you don't have to focus on military (yes I was lazy). It didn't take long to get a great foothold and I was starting to flip cities like mad with all the wonders I was building. When corps came online this became even easier. However one thing will screw you over........always peace :(

When the AI is down to the last city he will get all his defenders in there and the city will never flip. I had Madrid for instance surrounded with 6 cities that were pushing out >1500:culture: per turn and it still didn't flip for over 100 turns. I kept on pushing next turn just to see what would happen and the last cities would never flip, even with spies constantly spreading culture there, destroying buildings and causing revolts. I only wish I could bribe the units with spies but too bad that isn't possible.

So whatever you do, never try to get an cultural conquest on always peace :) Found that out the hard. Or is there something I missed? Is there another way to make them flip with so many guards in there (Madrid was down to 2% spanish and 98% inca like for >100 turns).

Cultural Conquest.. thats a new one  I can see why you couldn't win though.. what you could've done is have the AI war with each other, or were they forced peace as well?

Would be fun to try this kind o' map with peace not enforced, just you doing yer best not to declare war.

Always peace = no war EVAH!!!! That mean Nobody :(

And it was based on the crazy succession game where they did it the normal way. Although only 1 of 4 succeeded in the cultural conquest.

I don't think you can culture flip their last city - I am pretty sure the game won't let you destroy a civ with culture...

I think it's not about the last city, but capitals cannot be flipped.. i might be wrong though.

You're wrong. What prevented Madrid to flip to Killroyan was the massive amount of defenders guarding the city. As there is no way to get rid of the defenders in an always peace game, Killroyan could not destroy Spain. In a normal game, however, it is theoretically possible.

Edit: A capital can flip like any other city, but the amount of culture that it likely produced for ages usually makes it very difficult.

I might as well have had my last 2 prince games on always prince because I won Cultural and Space Race and never was in war the whole game even with my power ratio to some nations being at like 0.1 and at best 0.3

Assign city with AP / UN!

You're playing "Always Prince" ?

Can you build spies on always peace?

Start revolts in the city? Just an idea.

Killroyan said he did, but spy revolts don't have the same effect as cultural ones. They won't help flipping a heavily-defended city, they last only one turn and they don't damage the defenders. Killroyan even spread his culture in Madrid, but enough defenders can keep revolts in check, even if the culture ratio is less than 1%.

GFM is right. I did it all. Sabotage buildings, incite revolts, spread culture, etc... I did flip Persepolis though and there were like 15 defenders in it. That was the only AI I was able to destroy.

About UN/AP: With future tech 150 :) :) researched I can tell you the AP wasn't working anymore and with the UN you cannot assign cities anymore if I am not mistaken.

P.s it is based on this succession game and I thought it would be a lot easier with corps:

There is a culture conquest win in BtS in this forum.... just don't remember the exact name. It should not be hard to find.

P.S: You don't need mass media to get future tech 150 :p

Death by UN is possible -- the city only needs to belong to a player who has lost his Full Membership status (after defying a resolution).

Wow, thanks Dan. Nice screenshots. I remember that I turned on only conquest so no UN possible :p I think I screwed myself over really nice in that game. HAHA.

Wouldn't it be possible to flip the opposing civ to Pacifism and then have them disband units because they can't afford the upkeep anymore (after blowing up the Market, Grocer and Bank)? Probably won't work if they have settled Great Prophets or Great Merchants though, or a Shrine.

Preferably, before you force them into Pacifism, siphon off their excess gold with trades or threats.

By far the easiest approach is to avoid mass media and internet, such that the AP is never obsolete. Poisoning water and pacifism is the truth otherwise.

Edit:

Spamming non-jeweler corps to them can bleed out some cashmoney too, especially if you take down the courthouse ;).

Nice suggestions indeed. Making them switch to pacifism is by far the most usefull one. It is already incredible how a 1 tile city can support over 40 units :p Poisoning the water is also fun to keep them really small. Lets see if we can try this. Just found standard ethanol and aluminiumco and give them that.

BTW, I checked the game last night and all of a sudden all the automatic pop ups didn't come up anymore, nor were idel units selected at the start of the turn. And I didn't change a thing. Is this normal after 2050?

Another question: How do you get the possibilities to have them change the civics? I always see those marvellous screenshots where you can ask the AI to change these but I never see them in my conversation screens. I mean I have not ever seen them so far and I am using BUG.
