Culture Database

Yes, you are absolutely right.

While the timestamps are accurate, It's just 1 metric.
Cultural 'tech level' is the biggest factor for me.

It's also one of the reasons i divided cultures into people, historic powers and modern countries. We may have to change some cultural units. But it will be far easier to see what the culture entails within the game.
If we want the polynesian Hawaii people, you could get it anachronistically early. If we want the Kamehameha kingdom, we could be a bit more accurate, and Hawaii US state can be even more so.

It matters what cultural benefits we give too. A unit is obselete fast, a building less so. This can give some leeway too.

Anyways, you (and the others who worked on this i don't know) did a magnificent job.
Most changes come from me changing the definition of the culture to mean a specific empire, or people. And adding new prereqs.

@Hydromancerx I know that direct modding is a time consumption and distraction from some other tasks and projects on your plate atm. However, if you can perhaps find time to work with Rmi on his document and the things he's proposing to include such as his unit adjustments and so on, it would be tremendously helpful. You can guard some of your design intentions this way and I'd feel better approving the project adjustments knowing that a senior modder was at least reviewing them. I'd love to review them myself but I'm deeply pressed for time with hundreds of other debugging and project items on my plate here.

I know that might be too much for ya though. Let me know if you could work it in to your schedule somehow.

While I am not ready to get back into modding C2C yet, I have been trying to make an attempt to comment in these few threads. Most of the stuff proposed I agree with. I just wanted to make sure you guys knew reasoning for why I did what I did. Not necessarily if my idea is better or not. Because everything I made has room for improvement. In short the real historical dates in the online doc kinda scared me that we were going to have say the Aztec culture unlocked in the European Medieval period.

I am looking into the culture code now.
Most of it is in D:\c2c\Assets\Modules\My_Mods\New_Cultures\...
But some in D:\c2c\Assets\XML\Buildings\Cultures_CIV4BuildingInfos

It's not too hard but i'm not gonna change or add anything till we have concrete plans AND i fully understand what i'm doing.

Might try to make some .DDS flag pictures though. It seems those would come in handy at one point or another.

Thx! i'll have to find out how it all works frst and get photoshop but i'll get there =).

I've got gimp 2.8 working now with dds.

Somewhere on the civforum was a tutorial for that.

@Rmi have you done much with this stuff of late? Do you have any design files that you've set up for starting out in case others might be willing to pick this up?
