Current (SVN) development discussion thread

Here are two more things from 565. The image shows an error that I got at the beginning of the turn where England collapsed to its colonies. They lost London, Edinburgh, and Dublin as independents, and France had a city at the southwest corner of Britain (not sure if they got it before or after the collapse).

The save is from the same game. It's the earliest save that I still have which includes a super powerful Bolivar. I don't have it setup to switch which civ I'm playing during the game, but I'm pretty sure he's bugged after looking it over in worldbuilder.

Why is the Civilopedia now the Sevopedia?

There is something broken about the Index button within the F12 pop-up screen.

Alright, forgot that there are folders outside of Assets. Should work with the next update.

Another update: changed the civilization tab in the Sevopedia to display UP and UHV in the usual RFC fashion again.

I'm getting a fatal exception when I start the 1700 AD scenario with Prussia. This happens when I try to select something to build. I can't click through the popup window, it seems like there are unlimited popups stacked on each other.

What revision are you on? I'm not getting it on 568.

It's 568, and I was just able to reproduce it. Start the 1700 AD scenario with Prussia on emperor difficulty and normal speed. Once the game loads, open the city menu for Konigsberg and queue up a cannon. I get the same error every time.

It's great that you've added a reproducible example, but for me this works without problems. Have you modified the BUG settings before doing it?

New commit:
- Observatory now requires Scientific Method and Astronomy
- Kaizen Plant now gives a free engineer and a scientist slot
- added Mughal great people names

Universities come at roughly the same time, Astronomy is already very powerful and Scientific Method needed to actually boost science and be useful in general. Previously researching it was a beaker loss.

Maybe Astronomy can become a bit less expensive though.

Perhaps add science bonus to observatory to make up for it? 30 percent?
or astronomy being less expensive. :P

Yea that was the problem, thanks! I've got it working now. I had started editing the BUG settings until it caused the game to crash. I assumed that the settings wouldn't be saved. I tried reversioning, but I didn't force it to redownload a fresh copy of the altered file. I did that just now, and it works.

I'll also take this opportunity to point out my much-maligned problem with BUG. The cities have longer bars where the name is displayed on the world map. This is apparently necessary for displaying certain very long city names in BTS. However, the right side of the bar which was added is not actually clickable. I naturally try to click on the right side of the city bar when selecting cities, so this is rather annoying. I'm not sure if it's fixable, but I thought I'd point it out so that people don't think that they're going crazy like I did.

Here's an exception popup that I got on 571 (1st attachment). The subsequent window popups said this:

file "Civ4lerts", line 663 in _passesTest
file "Civ4lerts", line 326 in checkCity
file "Civ4lerts", line 227 in checkAllActivePlayerCities
file "Civ4lerts", line 260 in onBeginActivePlayerTurn
file "Bug Event Manager", line 401 in _handleDefaultEvent

Edit: I ended up getting the above error once more. Then a little later, I got another error that I couldn't click through (2nd attachment). It happened after I used the right arrow key to tab from one city to another. It looks like the same error I was having before, although I haven't changed any settings since I redownloaded DOC.

Do you still know your settings under which the game crashed?

I'll also look at the other stuff, thanks for the feedback.

Alright, both crashes are related to my changes to the hurry types (splitting hurrying into units and buildings), which BUG couldn't handle because it unwisely had hardcoded entries for the standard hurry types. Fix comes with the next commit.

In the last SVN update, I've tried many Russian 600 AD starts and Tamils seem to resurrect every time, before 860 AD. I try to go on in just one of this game and I've seen them obviously compromising Mughal "pursuit of happiness".
