Current (SVN) development discussion thread

I'll commit a fix until my annoying responsibility stuff is done for today.

Awesome. :)

In the meantime, how do I revert back to another version? I've never downloaded 701, because I take weeks - if not months - to finish one game, and I always mod a few things for my own enjoyment.

EDIT: Oh, I see, I'll just manually change the files by checking their differences.
EDIT2: Eh, now I don't even see a technology screen before being defeated. I'll just wait then. :)
EDIT3: Ah, I do believe it works now.

Switching to SVN. I hope I won't regret my decision.

Just to be clear, revision 702 is a poor choice right now. Either use 701 or wait until 703 is committed.

New commit:
- fixed the victory display bug

I put the DoC folder on my desktop and updated to 703. I then copy-pasted it to the mods folder. Yet when I open a game, it's vanilla 1.11. Have I done something wrong?

Oh, I figured it out. Turned out I wasn't actually using the proper folder.

So when exactly will stability be reimplemented?

I'm considering switching to SVN. About how often is there a change which breaks all previous saves?

It happened maybe five times since the last version came out. Usually such a change also isn't a vital bugfix so it would always be possible to finish the current game before updating.

Really? Because it isn't working at all on revision 703.
I need to know the symptoms Jim.

All stability modifiers are zero. Stability appears to simply have been removed. This is not scenario-related.

EDIT: Actually, civs do periodically seem to collapse, despite the total lack of any information regarding their stability. I did get a few python exceptions upon spawning, but I haven't changed anything.

Stability now only forces a check on certain events, such as declaring war, trading techs and razing a city, among others.
This is, at least, my understanding of the current mechanic. It's possible to stay static for a very long time.
I believe all my stability ratings as the Mongols were all 0 for 15-20 turns or so in my most recent game.

That is terrible design. And besides, where are those little notifiers that had little convex or concave graphics?

EDIT: I've went through each and every civ in one of my saves using cheats. None have any stability other than zero. So it appears that my problem is genuine.

Kind of small, but the last sentence of the Viking DoM screen sounds kind of awkward ("Not only the coasts of the North Sea, but also the Mediterranean and even the New World make good targets for either plunder or settlement.") right now. I suggest changing it slightly to "Not only the coasts of the North Sea, but also those of the Mediterranean and even the New World would make good targets for plunder or settlement."

Also, just wondering: during autoplay, I got a popup for global war between Rome and Greece, and then global war for Rome vs. Egypt and Rome vs. Indepedents. What does it mean? Does it have something to do with the new congress mechanism (whereby a congress is triggered at the end of a big war)?

oh my god youre right

In the scoreboard, if you don't turn them off.

Important part bolded.

That's right, I'll change it.

Yeah, that's part of the Congress mechanic. I guess I can disable the logging now, it now works as intended.
