Custom Civilizations.

I would also agree on more civs in game, but in CORE or modules?? I asked alberts2 about this already, and he mentioned that IF modules we might get back to having more MAF's??( i believe thats what he mentioned)>

Doesn't matter if they are in the core or in modules as long as we don't have to many of them.

But ~50 should be ok.

OK thx for the feedback, good to know, if you'll decide then which ones you HAVE to have, let me know and i will start working on them right away:p

Add them and Ill create art styles for them (only from models and skins already included in mod).

Those are the exact ones i was thinking about also, so thx for confirming my suspicions.;)

I agree. The only other one is maybe Brazil. So both South America and Oceania will have 4 civs.

South America
1. Incan (already in Core)
2. Jivaro
3. Tupi
4. Brazil

Oceania
1. Australia (already in Core)
2. Aborigines
3. Maori
4. Polynesia.

This also makes them each have 3 native cultures and 1 colonial culture.

FYI. Before custom civs were removed, in SEM+ I had to include Polynesia, because either the Aborigines or Moari (that I added) used some of its artwork. I did not add it to SEM+ as a separate civ , just as a placeholder.

Though that may now change if you add more reskinned units etc. :)

I still have the original custom civ files, if you need them. Not sure if they include the Art files though, probably not - just the .xml and .dds files.

I like this proposal.

I agree that it's hard to go past Brazil for this role. The only problem I would point out is that Brazil is the only Portuguese colony in the entire continent (and all the rest are of course Spanish), so it's far from a 'typical' representative of the colonial nations in that regard. If you found this argument persuasive, a Gran Colombia based civ might be the way to go, or possibly a pan-Bolivariana (ie. post-colonial and heavily socialist influenced, a la Chavez, Allende, Morales, etc.)

I am having troubles with the Unit artstyles of the Polynesians and Maori??

So i put the Polynesians as Japan and Maori as Australia?? Is that OK??

Remembering now, that they must exist in current core styles.

Im ok with that.

You can put them in modmod section as I did with Babylonian, Roman and Mongol sets.

Sorry - what I mean't was - if SO wanted to refer back to them whilst making his changes. But thinking about it he probably has them anyway.

Here is the list of civs by region now.

African (5)
- Carthaginian
- Egyptian
- Ethiopian
- Malinese
- Zulu

Asian (7)
- Chinese
- Indian
- Japanese
- Khmer
- Korean
- Mongolian
- Siamese

European (14)
- Celtic
- Denmark
- Dutch
- English
- French
- German
- Greek
- Holy Roman
- Neanderthal
- Portuguese
- Roman
- Russian
- Spanish
- Viking

Middle Eastern (8)
- Arabian
- Assyrian
- Babylon
- Byzantine
- Hittite
- Ottoman
- Persian
- Sumerian

North American (6)
- Aztec
- Confederates
- Iroquois
- Mayan
- Native American
- United States

Oceania (4)
- Aborigine
- Australian
- Maori
- Polynesian

South American (4)
- Brazil
- Incan
- Jivaro
- Tupi

That totals 48 civs now.

I think we should make a round 50 civs. I also don't think the Confederates should be a choice.

So my ideas for 2 to 3 more civs would be ...

1. Canada (North America)
2. Congo (Africa)
3. Cherokee (North America)

Thus rounding out the number of civs to choose from to be 50.

EDIT: Also it was just coincidence that they all start with the letter C.

The Native Americans are called the Sioux in-game, but if you want the Cherokee as well, I don't have a massive issue with it. I don't like the idea of having the CSA in-game and I'd much rather have Canada. Presumably the game can handle these extra civs?

Isn't there another North African power from which to choose? The Ayyubids, Umayyads, Abbasids, Tulinids, Moroccans, Tunisians, Algerians etc.

Austria would be an interesting choice, I think. They made a huge impact on Europe for centuries (and much of the rest of the world) and I don't think they've ever been featured in a Civ game before.

Austria in some way is representedy by Holy Roman Empire (I know its different nation but Austria was main part of HRE for long time).

Other powerful nations in Central/East Europe:
- Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
- Hungarian Kingdom
- Great Moravia
- Avar Khaganate

Well, given that we have the HRE and Germany, now Brazil and Tupi and of course Assyria, Babylon, Sumeria and Persia, we're clearly not adverse to retreading the same ground in different periods.
