Game number 2 for me, sorry it took so long to get ready!
Like the name of the thread, this will be a Double your Pleasure game on Play the World with DyP 2.01x. I've tweaked the game so it will:
1) Last longer (about 100 more turns)
2) Be more enjoyable (got rid of annoying invisible units)
3) Provide for a good challenge
Upon being asked to do so... I've made even MORE changes based on another DyP SG located here ...so here are the tweaks-->

Emissaries-- these bad boys have NO Pillage OR Hidden Nationality , but they do keep their invisablity
Assassins, Ninjas, Spies, Secret Service, Secret Agent, Special Agent and Covert Ops have been DELETED
Labourers-- added airlift
Riflemen-- added airlift
Cuirassiers-- Ottomans can now build them
Privateer-- no bombard capabilities
Elephant Riders-- no longer wheeled unit
Inti Warrior-- keeps blitz but loses amphibious, costs 10 shields instead of 5 (niiice)
Cossack-- +1 hp bonus (reeeal nice)
Colonial Marine-- added amphibious

This game will start with a RANDOM civ on a large Earth Map... so we could get anything from Siam to Mali to Russia to Souix! However, I did get rid of some civs in Europe and Pacific Ocean just so it will be easier for conquest and be less of a political hassel...

Now, the rules...
No RoP Rape
No major exploits
No breaking deals by causing war
and the most important one...
MUST CONQUER ALL CITIES OF A CIV BEFORE TAKING THE CAPITAL :mwaha:
This is the challenge of the game... since the cities that need to be conquered can be ANYWHERE, we need to plan wars effectively...
plus one more little tidbit, once we go to war with someone, we STAY in war! All of the Earth will be ours, or we'll DIE ASSAULTING

I have one note, if you HAVE NOT played Double your Pleasure, I suggest you wait on this SG, but if you REALLY need to play... sure! :devil2:
 
Not a sign-up...yet ;) .

I suggest 2 things:

1) Either use 2.02, or apply the tweaks from TJ02 too (all those changes are incorporated in 2.02 anyway). Those may seem minor issues, but each of them can really hurt.

2) Remove Korea instead of Polynesia - the Pacific Islands will be settled anyway, but Korea is far worse placed than Poly.


And I assume you're playing this with Kal-el's huge World-Map?
 
@Doc yes I am currently watching you guys play TJO2, you're AWESOME :thumbsup: ... I'll check up on the "2.02 patch" your suggesting... and I may just remove Korea entirely (along with Polynesia, they are in Hawaii for crying out loud!) Hope you will join, too.

But only if you promise me we do not play the Aztecs, I can't stand their city names and UU. So in fact this, is only a 23/24 => 95.83% sign-up. :D

(I *do* assume it's Kal-el's map).


A FYI:

Note everyone who wants to join will need either the DyP 2.0 CD version, or will have to download DyP 2.01 (pretty large, about 76MB). There's no way around this, those are the graphics.

Any tweaks cizzlewalk applies will be stored in the save, so no need to mod anything yourself.

(btw, cizzlewalk, you could use TJ's .bix file in the first post over there, and import the rules to the World Map).
 
Graphics are no problem, d/l does not take long.

@Doc I've made the tweaks myself now, they didn't take too long :D Check out the changes on first post. Oh and thanks for signing up :thanx:

Ok if we DO get Aztecs, I'll choose random again just so everyone will play.

Problem taken care of...sigh...
Well since I'm not sure how many people are out there who have DyP, so I'll probably start the game Wednesday and keep recruiting as we play, simply because SO many SGs have started. Good God it's like 30 just popped at of nowhere! If you guys know of anybody who has DyP or played it please try to get them to join.

I will *not* play with HN units - they completely kill off the AI; all AI Civs will do nothing but permanently capture their Workers back and forth, and attack cities with uselessly weak units, and spend the rest of time hunting.
I have absolutely no problem with removing them completely, however.
 
Nope, I just figured as long as we can SEE them it is ok, I mean this just gives the game a less radical factor to worry about.
 
Whether or not you include invisible units, is a matter of personnel preferences; I for one would like them, but because the AI is rather obsessive, I removed them from 'my' DyP.

Note they don't cause me headaches, it's just the idiotic AI build preference why I got rid of them.

However, Hidden Nationality land units *do not work* in ptw 1.27. Period.

- The AI will build nothing else.
- The AI will do nothing else.
- The AI and the human will permanently capture cities of backward Civs without hostilities.
- You cannot allow them to 'Pillage', otherwise you'd simply have to sign a RoP and can pillage all terrain improvements, by covering them with a regular unit.
- Because of that, AI Workers don't recognize that unit as foe (the game checks for the pillage flag).

As a result, you could as well remove Workers from the AI build list and set the default AI level on Deity. Or play Chieftain.

End of rant.

I know, it's amazing. There are like ten 1 page, 1-3 member SGs on the first page now.
 
:lol: good point Doc. Well, since I don't want anyone to leave, I'll do as you say. Ah, how I'll miss endless leaders due to wave after wave of HN units! I'll do this then;
give them back invisability, take away pillage ability, and have no HN, sound good?

Is he now? I had no idea they were going to keep updating DyP for PtW... at least until C3C version came out. Well can you find out how soon it will be when it comes out, if it's reasonably soon then we can wait it out until then.
 
Just before everyone who has signed up drops the f-bomb on this SG, it is final... Wednesday, 25th this SG will officially begin. I'll start the turns off, and just so you know the first two players have 20 turns. It will be 10 turns from then on out (unless anyone thinks this idea to be too bothersome for one reason or another) and hopefully my changing of turn limit will have worked.
FYI- the reason I'm extending the start date is due to the two open slots, you just never know who'll show up after reading the COUNTLESS RBCiv SGs saying, "Here's a new idea, someting that's NOT RBC....whoa..."
 
I have also made the more changes to the game, everyone give them the once over and tell me that your still in [pimp] and find that everything looks fine
