Daghie´s Open Speed Space Civ 1

Aight, the way I see it we gotta focus on military, then go whack the Arabs. Horse Village and Tonawanda will soon flip to Baghdad and then we have no horsies and no iron which is baaaad. Arabs have 2 iron (as have Ottomans) + 2 Ivory. I don't want us to live next to SoZ and have no iron.
I've changed core cities to rax and chopped some to speed it up, we can still pop the odd settler but we must get troops out soon or the demands will come raining over us.

As I recall, we had save problems in Hawk01. I think technically Mac and PC saves are the same, but I remember that AanH said something to the effect that PC's add "junk" to the saves. I think there is a Mac "de-junkifier" program available. I hope we don't have this in Hawk02.
 
Well, I'm gonna post all the saves in the mac forum, figure out whether they've got junk (if so, grab the program), or are just weirding up my computer.

I don't think it's the junk, because doesn't Sercer have a mac? (you had problems in SGFN-03, btw, not Hawk01)

EDIT: No, that wasn't Sercer. It turns out it was junk. I ran the file through FileValet and it's working. So this is my got it.

Played 10, built up some troops, connected horsies, traded for Map Making. Unit costs are really starting to hurt now.

No...I don't have a mac...where'd you get that idea? :confused:
 
This should be fun. Arabs declared, tempted by the stack of workers roading to Tonawanda. I saved the stack (6 IIRC), but lost the poorly defended Tonawanda. We're GOLDEN by the way. A Mountie killed of a sword outside Baghdhad. I built an embassy with Sumeria to get them on our side vs Arabia. Turns out they're already at war :hammer2:

I picked up the save last night, played 20 turns(greedy) in about 2 hours. The good news is that I prosecuted the Arabs relentlessly, razed 2 towns, captured 4, and settled 4. Our troops are gathering to attack Damascus. After razing that town, we could get Engineering for peace and leave them with no iron. I think the next war should be Sumeria, so we get Tonawanda and our Dyes back. We also got an SGL which I used to rush the Pyramids in Salamanca. The GLib could be used as a pre-build for Sun Tzu's or Leo's. Feudalism is due in 1 turn. Here is 1 picture:

Played 11 turns. Daghda, I think it's your computer that's producing the junk. I had to use FileValet on the save. Large numbers of Settler Pairs came through our territory, but all but two Sumerians have turned back. It looks like those two will settle before I can fill up the space.

Since we're not really doing logs...I'll just tell you that I rushed a few cultural improvements along, cut the time needed to build the Forbidden Palace, swapped Leo's for Sun Tzu's... because we sorely needed some Barracks. Read on, and you'll see why. Here's the highlight reel:

Ok, Heroic Epic is started. We have another Army. We just signed peace with Sumeria...they were slaughtering us and WW was very high, so I was surprised that we got Theology and 7gpt plus change for peace.

Hi everyone. I picked up the save last night and and played way past 10 turns, actually played 23. Basically, on turn 1 the Maya DoW'ed us by grabbing an undefended town with a settler pair. I got the Ottomans and Mongols allied with us. So far, their contribution...bupkus. I tried being aggressive, but watched our MW's get slaughtered trying to take out Muskets. So I built MDI's. Same result. So I built Knights. No better. I finally bought saltpeter from the Ottomans(cost an arm, a leg, grandma's brooch and my firstborn) so we could build our own cavalry. By the way, the world is at war. Us against the Maya and Arabs>Arabs vs Sumeria>Sumeria vs the Ottomans>Mongols vs Maya>Ottomans vs Maya. Just nuts. I see the Mayan Cavalry and they have their own salt and we don't. This must be remedied. There are a ton of cavalry builds using the Ottoman salt. They could be used to capture the Maya or Sumerian salt, which is 1 tile away from our territory. Sumeria has no horses, but tons of Muskets and LB's, many of which are in our territory. Let the majority pass before DoW'ing or booting, they could hurt us bad. Let the Otto's gnaw on them awhile. Sorry about the mess I'm leaving. The good news is our research is running nicely.
