Daghie´s Open Speed Space Civ 1

We don't really need to do any more fighting, except for kicks:p I will download it and will play until 10 or so turns are done or I get a workable save for Kraz-01, which I'm up in. "Got it".

I "limited" myself to 15 builder turns. I got most of the workers organized into gangs, finished the ToE, and got the core cities up to 12 population. I have railed most of the easy tiles and settled a few specialist farm towns. We need to let them grow to continue 4-turn research. I did strip most of the foreign citizens away from captured towns to make more slaves. We can stop building workers now and concentrate on research. We can and should build Newtons in Salamanca and Smiths in another core town as soon as the factories finish to help science and the economy. The Ottomans have started them, but with factories, we can get there first. I took a couple of screenshots for our lurkers.
Here is the core:

And most of the empire:

Last but foremost, the save: http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/110452/DOSS-1_Overseer__1250_AD.SAV

Well done my friends. It's a smooth ride from now on. Let's try to get airborn before 2008. I fortified the workers for railing the core same turn we got steam. Better use the having them spread out. A former Mayan town town flipped and we lost salt so I had to have a quick war with them and settle on the salt. I jumped Gilga because I wanted the dyes city back and he was tired from fighting Otts. Kept the cav's lined up and picking incoming sumerians until the Uni's in the core was finished. Tht's why the defensive set up.
Let's go for research/specialists max. Pack cities in the sticks for unit support.

Well, it appears even an idiot can't mess this up. I've haven't played Civ3 in about a year, but I will play tomorrow (within 24 hours). We are now scraping our collective bottom...

@ daghie, re post 65, you call that a report? :crazyeye:

So was that a 'got it' from AK? If he makes a mess I'll clean it up. :D

I went a little long... :mischief: there was the little matter of WW that I wanted to clean up

Buildin courts, harbors and a little military. Upgraded some stuff. Took a few cities. Hoover's finished, we own Bach's. We'd be really close to the domination limit if it was turned on. IIRC finished RP, steel and combustion.

@ scout, there around 70+ native workers in the NW, I was thinking about joining them to cities

Most of the military is up near the Otto borders.

Can't resist taking another set with this one...'specially since so much of the recent warring started when Gilgamesh jumped off the porch on my earlier set.

"Got it".

I only played a couple of turns, because something came up and I have to do some stuff.

This is what can happen when you build courts instead of culture and don't starve down the cities you've taken:

I woke up all of the workers, there is still a LOT of terrain trimming to be done before we need to think about joining workers to cities. I founded a few more towns to serve as specialist farms. If the town is woefully corrupt, let it work 2 or 3 decent food tiles and hire scientists or tax collectors. We need cash more than we need shields - don't be afraid to fire a few civil engineer types.

The capitol built a market after completing its Army. Still needs a bank/stock exchange...and I'm not sure if there's a university there yet...

Take a good look at the cities before hiring a bunch of specialists. We had one with a bunch of tax collectors that's actually one of or less corrupted cities.

Smith's is in, so don't be afraid to spam markets/banks/stock exchanges. We need some more stock exchanges so we can build Wall Street.

We need to build science and commerce improvements. Culture along the borders - particularly the Ottoman.

Here's >>>>> The Save <<<<<

Took just 2 turns and didn't change much. Question: I never use a lot of engineers in the outskirts except for doing cult at the border. Instead I usually have scientists/taxmen since I don't want a lot of infra far away from the core. Outside of the productive core, say 7-10 cities, I ICS ,irrigate the lot and set prod to workers/settlers/artillery/wealth. Am I missing something? Here I see pop 10 cities with a lot of infra far away from the capitol  .

Those pop 10 cities are *probably* captured cities from other civs.

As for culture, building a temple in a city with flip risk won't do much. It's total culture compared to the civ incurring the flip risk that contributes to the formula, IIRC.

Weeeelll, since no one has taken this, and I want a fun builder set, I will take it and play. I guess launch is far away, so unless I get really carried away, it ain't happening tonight.

Welcome back Daghda! The save went bye bye with the hacker that took our upload system out. I may still have that save, but can't find it. Those turns may be gone forever. However, the last save you uploaded seems to be from the other upload system, which was not affected. I will keep looking, but at least one save still exists on this site, so the whole thing may yet still live.
