Daghie´s Open Speed Space Civ 1

Okay, I've played 11 turns, and the salt Overseer got was well worth it. Iroquois troops have run amok over Mayan cities, taking Chichen Itza, Copan, and Palenque.

We have our own salt and gems now.

I've made peace with the Mayans after taking their core, because we have all the resources we need and war weariness was quite high. Unfortunately, I'm an idiot and kept the Mayan cities, which means there's a HUGE chance of flipping until they're starved out. Of course, I'm a bastard and leaving the next player to decide whether to abandon and replace or not.

The Sumerians and Ottomans are fighting like crazy. The Sumer have Cavalry now, but the Ottos have the upperhand with their Sipahis and have retaken Izmit.

We have Banking and Astronomy now, I extorted Banking and some chump change out of the Mayans for peace.

Here's a screenshot of what we took from the Mayans :

And the save: http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/62725/DagOpenSpace770.SAV

Just remember, the goal is Alpha Centauri, not the crush the unwashed sub-humans! :D

Hey, we can let the filthy undermenschen have their little city in the tundra while the rest of the world conjures up the way to space! ;)

(I just realized we could win a conquest "victory" without triggering the Space Vic condition; it won't end the game for us)

If we've got the room... pack some specialist farms in there and make the beakerheads burn the midnight oil.

Failing that, burn something Sumerian. :D

I wonder where Daghda is? I don't want to take so many turns in this that I'm "hogging" it all. I hope we get to Alpha Centauri before next Christmas....

Got it, playing now...

Edit: Done.

I think we'll have to change the goal to be "before New Years" - I think that could actually be doable.

You might want to work on some culture (Libraries) along the sumerian border.

I open the save, and we're at war with the Sumerians. It's probably a non issue because the border will move south quite a bit in the next few turns, I hope. :hammer:

My question is, why are all the cavs and workers fortified instead of crushing Sumeria and building RR's?

During my set, I fortified Cavs to make a unit wall to prevent the Sumerians from sending more units into our territory...I knew war with them was looming, and I wanted to simplify the process of killing their stray units. I can't really speak for what happened after 880AD though.

It has been awhile since I had an empire so perfect that I have hordes of workers sitting around doing nothing. Get that whip out and get 'em busy, even with makework tasks. An idle slave is a waste of the effort you made to get it. Native workers can be used to pump up towns into cities to improve production, especially slow growing ones. I guess when Kraz finishes, I will take the con for a few turns.

15 turns later, Sumeria is gone.

I did some aggressive settling stealing wines from the Ottomans and am trying to fill up Sumerian territory. Ottos are about to kill the Mayans, but facing Sipahis generally isn't the greatest of ideas. Its up to the team to decide whats next for the Iroquois empire.

Sci Meth arrives next turn. We also have Electricity and Medicine researched on my turns.

There is a leader in Grand River to hurry ToE, and a palace prebuild there for Hoover Dam if we want it.

A leader for Leo's!? . Well done on the destruction of Sumeria- I'll take it after Overseer plays. I'd suggest settle-expanding over the Mayan ruins, then killing the Mongols. By the time we finish, we'll (hopefully) have tanks and infantry, enough to slaughter the Ottomans.

Remember -the goal is a spaceship launch. Settle all the specialist farms you want, but don't trip the domination limit!
