Hallo everybody,

I have never posted before in this forum but i have read a lot here and learned
alot. Especially the wise comments of DaveMcW :goodjob: are always fun to read. So here is the reason for my post: I have never seen a detailed walkthrough by DaveMcW and I think it would be great to see your/his skillz in a game.

So Dave I know its a lot of work to do all the screenshots and comments but I think it would be a great guide for all the readers here. So please could you do me/us the favour?

PS: Sorry for my bad english it's not my native language.

Welcome to the forums, although you've been around for a while :)

I agree that it would be very interesting to see a "Dave's walkthrough", if you have the time and patience, that is, Dave?

I think there's somewhat of a walkthrough in the CE vs SE thread, where he posted various saves. You can take a look there. Time will tell if dave makes a walkthrough with screenshots of all his workers building cottages and then-this is the crazy part- working them!

Nice Winston. No offense, Dave, but that is exactly what it would be. Oh man...

but seriously, I'm more of a SE type of guy, so I would love to see how his cottage-spamming works..

never read too much by dave but that's exactly the impression i got :) sorry dave nothing against you. in fact i always enjoy the regular cottage post

Actually, i would be interested in hearing his thoughts on how to handle CE during long wars. Happiness and production is always an issue for me whenever i try it, hence my preference for HE and SE.

Dave obviously has a preference for cottages and well he should, it's one of the more important parts of the game.

However, I have found he gives alot of good advic on other aspects, with an entertaining one or two line response.

My impression is a walkthrough from him woudl be extremely educational beyond the cottages. I also would understand any reluctance on his part to do a walkthrough as it takes a great deal of effort as I found out doing thr RPC series.

Thanks for your Information about the CE vs SE thread. I already know the thread. As I can remember he only posted the final save 1750 ad or so. The way to 1750 is the interesting thing. In his final save he only had 10 or 15 military units and they were mainly warriors

I also played the Peter 4000 bc savegame myself a few times. I played a pure SE and ended up with a 1820 ad space victory. From my personal experience I think a 100% scienceslider GM SE bureaucracy capitol hybrideconomy is the way to go. But I don't want to start a economy thread here. Watching Dave's cottages grow would be funny enough

DaveMcW is a top player. If he was to do a walkthrough thread we would all learn a lot. I think I remember him posting for another thread as well and his opening was quite strong. He makes good decisions overall and knows how to adapt to the map well.

Dave's brief words of wisdom are very easy to remember when I'm playing a game. I'll be stuck with a worker on a tile not knowing what to do, and I'll remember "Cottages!!" and away I go. I would be floored too if he did a whole walkthrough with a whole bunch of advice.

I just had this mental picture of a whole room full of civfanatics chanting "Cottages! Cottages! Cottages!" and worshipping a huge DaveMcW idol.

That's just too funny. Maybe we can petition to have the swordsman of the civfanatics logo changed to a picture of the chessmaster dude surrounded by cottages.

He does indeed give good advice. The only issue is that he can't accept the plain truth that is SE is better than CE on average. :)

Thats exactly my point of view and the reason why I started this thread.

Wow, I read the ce vs se head to head part 2, acidsatyr was mad as hell. Saves are gone, unfortunately.

acidsatyr was also a top player. i think the greatest downfall of that thread was that acid didn't go for a space victory. he was too much in love with domination, alas :( i wasn't enough competition for dave as i was only a low-level monarch player at the time. now i've improved a fair bit, but i still wouldn't tangle with davemcw ;)
