Dawn of Russians

"Shall Russia abdicate?"

You can vote with "yes" or "no".

OCC:
Referendum will be sorter in duration (about 24hours), so that this story continues. (I can extend it however, if you want to.)

TheNoob, baseballpie, Kinkaz, Spirictum can't vote as prisoners. You can participate in the next votings as your descendants.

I will PM all populist and republican participants of the revolution. People who haven't participate in the revolution can vote too.

If this comes to a draw again, I will use my second vote this time. I had written down this rule in the beginning of the game but it was erased in one of my updates.

To those who don't know what "abdication" means check this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdication

In other words in means "abolishment of monarchy". So "Yes" means you want to abolish monarchy and "no" means you want monarchy.

Yeah. Also, historically, the transition from absolute monarchy straight into a republic went sour fast, the French Revolution. To compare, the constitutional monarchy of Britain slowly made the nation more democratic instead of BAM democracy. America was lucky because there was really no aristocracy and there was much more economic and social mobility where people could move up the ladder.

*cough*English Civil War*cough*

And the anarchy in France (plus every single country who wanted to destroy the revolution), followed by the transformation of said country into an Empire.

No

When we became Grafs we swore oaths, and I see no reason why we should abandon these oaths now, our tsars have led us to a position of strength and have done no wrong.

No for abdication. If the people want democracy give them some, but isn't it democratic and fair to also give the rich what they want too? Instead of just throwing them in the dust? We promised our great Tsarina Catherine that we would be Graftsvos of the great Russian Empire. We can not fail her, as we are bound by oath and honor. There is no reason to remove the Tsar, in times of crisis Russia needs something to give pride and distinction to the Russian people. Even if he wields less power, he give the people of Russia the reason and will to fight for their nation.

People want democracy. And the rich can get into the Parliament and pass Pro-rich laws. Once we give democracy, then EVERYONE gets a chance. And don't believe in stuffs like "the queen/king gets limited powers". If the king/queen likes, he/she may destroy the parliament and make himself/herself the absolute king, filled with strong Monarchists that can't be taken down.

That is false. Under a constitution they will be forced to give some powers up, and it shall stay that way. A Constitutional Democracy is also a democracy. The people of Russia need someone to lead them in times of crisis.

Well, I should give my vote as well. Yes to abdication. The deepest reason for my vote is economy. Any form of government, even Alexander would have to face the great economic stagnation. I hope that the solution is an extensive urbanised and specialist economy.

Well, urbanisation can happen under monarchy too, but under republic it will develop two times faster.

Shouldn't the tsar vote no on abdication? :p

Come Graft Matthias! Help us to keep the reign of the tsar long!
