This question occurred to me when I was browsing a Flashtrek Website; In an epic battle, which would win, the Death Star or the Borg Cube?

Borg cube. Generally far more maneuverable than the Death Star and whereas the Death Star has to charge up it's laser, the Borg cube can just run circles around it and shoot torpedoes and cutting beams.

The death star can blow up PLANETS.

Which just goes to show how ridiculous Star Wars is :p

You get one or two shots off at the borg cube, and it adapts. Then it assimilates you. Game over.

What's this, magic assimilation? Death star all the way, far more firepower and awesomeness.

Death Star. The thing is massive the size of a moon and blows up planets. And it has its own TIE's and Star Destroyers and Stormtroopers inside of it.

The Death Star any day.

Everyone who's watched Star Trek will say Borg cube.

If you say the Death Star, you're not a real sci-fi fan :nope:.

:assimilate::assimilate: Occurs to those tiny Stormtroopers.

The Death Star would completely and utterly pwn the Borg.

Actually the Death Star couldn't even hit the Borg cube so it would have to use its smaller turbolasers and TIE fighters to destroy the Cube. The Death Star 2 was upgraded so it coulds target capital size ships.

If it could hit the cube it wouldn't get the chance to adapt.

Seeing as the Death Star would only need one shot, I would say the traditional Borg advantage is mute. Death Star wins.

I don't think it's beyond an advanced civilization to learn to aim its super lasers a little better. Death Star would destroy a tiny Borg cube, even if the Empire didn't have its shields online. The thing is the size of a moon. How big is a cube: 1 square km? It's not even close. The Death Star could literally just run over the cube.

I watched and loved Star Trek, but Star Wars is just the more militant and destructive franchise. The worst of Star Trek is a small bug on the windshield of Star Wars. Deal with it.

Regarding the death star's planet destroy laser: the cube's maneuverability would render that useless.
Regarding the death star's TIE fighter defenses: do they have modulating laser beams? I didn't think so. They'd get 2 or 3 of those really weak laser shots off at the cube, and then the Borg would adapt.

Let's think about this.

USS Enterprise beats Borg Cube
Death Star would destroy USS Enterprise

Therefore, Death Star would destroy Borg Cube. And for the record, I like Star Trek far more than Star Wars.

Do you even know what happened at Wolf 359??

The only way that works out is if Lord Vader gets assimilated and then they do the same thing to destroy the Borg... unfortunately, then the Borg would have access to force powers. Do you *really* want to do that??

Not only, as it's been said, the Death Star was conceived to shoot at planets rather than spaceships (witness the battle in SW: did anyone see the Imperials even suggest using the thing to turn the tide?), but the DS is also far more fragile.

Not unless the Borg assimilates Luke for one epic battle.

This website shows why pretty much every major race in Star Trek would lose to the Empire.

The Empire has unimaginable firepower, far past anything the borg have encountered. Besides the main planet destroying laser, the Death Star has a vast array of lasers on its surface. The Borg cube dies within a couple seconds.

Indeed.

Even a single Imperial-class ship probably has firepower comparable to a large chunk of Starfleet, and the empire has several thousands of them.

The agility argument is pretty weak ; as others have noted, the rest of the Death Star has countless weapons emplacements. There is a REASON small fighters were the only weapon that could be considered for use against the Death Star, people, and that reason is "Anything larger would have been turned to slag".

The standard Trekkie defense is to resort to teleportation, assuming the Star Wars vessels have absolutely no means of handling that. A dangerous assumption at best, and one that relies on a lot of empty trekno-battle.

Actually, the Borg would win. It doesn't depend on one single Borg cube to adapt to a weapon, once something makes contact with the cube, it gets sent into the Collective database. Sure, the Death Star has Star Destroyers and TIE Fighters defending it, but the Borg would adapt eventually. One single hub from the Borg ALWAYS has over 70 cubes in the area, so I doubt the Death Star would win.
