You can watch the first 14 minutes here. A few preliminary thoughts:
Spoiler :
Premise sounds intriguing enough. Post-apocalyptic stuff may be overdone, but the alien presence seems to add a new dimension. The alien designs seems a little lazy. I don't have a huge intrinsic problem with humanoid aliens, but these look more like extras from an Enterprise episode than main characters in a big-budget series. But I see enough potential here that I could be persuaded to overlook it. It may be absolute crap yet though. It is Syfy after all. 14 minutes didn't allow me adequate judgement. Time will tell how this is remembered.

My thoughts after watching the clip:

Spoiler :
The premise is intriguing, but derivative -- like "Falling Skies," where the aliens have second thoughts, even though the humans act like the District 9 humans and the aliens act like "Alien Nation" aliens. We'll see on the 15th

Yea, I mean how many do we have to see before the market is saturatexd -- it's like there's a Starbucks on every corner in Manhattan.

In China, they have TV shows about their history. In Cuba, there's a show called Crimes Against Humanity where they chronicle all of the abuses of monopoly capitalism.

I think a TV drama about the US Labor movement would be great. Plenty of drama, violence, villains and heroes. Hmmmmmm I feel a thread coming on.....

EDIT: I couldn't myself, come see Write Your Own TV Show!

So, this is like a soap opera/ star trek/ star wars meets alien nation en route to District 9. Yawn. Unfortunately, I'll likely watch the first few episodes...

Is this anything to write home about ? I'd love a new SciFi show, but I don't really have the time to sample something that might turn out to be crap or plain boring. The rubber forehead aliens don't look promising.

It has some good moments, but I think it relies too much on cliches like the boring Romeo-Juliet plot that gets way too much attention. I hope in the next few episodes they drop some of the tropes and explore the world more.

Don't know if other CFCers watch this show, but it's a little forced, though watchable. It's Firefly meets Alien Nation/ District 9 and "V" but learning about the Votan cultures is very interesting. They renewed it for a second season, apparently.
