Thank you very much for all nice feedback and appreciation I have gotten throughout this game, it really helped me taking this seriously and putting many of my assumptions and preconceptions under consideration.
I am really pleased by the result, and hope that everyone following along had a good time!
I guess tha game just ended up deciding for me. I managed to go with the flow and listen to the map as it unfolded.
Yes, I too was amazed by the incredible snowball effect.
Have been playing alot of iso maps lately, and at T200 or so I'm finally pushing rifling+steel and start to get ready for a first invasion.
Gobbling up cities early on is incredibly powerful.
George had only archers+chariots so my HAs took over his huge cities with minimal resistance, after that I snagged alot of flatland cities from Gilgamesh when his SOD was up north, after that I could mop him up with only minimal rebuilds and Pericles was so small that I could just continue to roll over him.
On the other continent, the chain-capitulation made things very speedy.
I will certainly try to incorporate more early wars in my games from these lessons.
Lymond told me that techs given in peace-deals doesn't count to "We find you too advanced" limit. I'm not 100% sure about that (can someone verify?) but I'm playing as if it is now.
@lymond is wrong, a rare occasion. In my recent game, I had traded for 1 tech, then got 6(!) cheap techs in peace deal and bam, Qin goes WFYABTA. Stolen techs don't count towards the limit though, I think?

Oh my and . Well, it is actually not the first time with this game that I've held some incorrect assumption about a mechanic for years. Amazing how we still learn new things. I can't recall at all what lead me to ever believe that in the first place, but the more I think about it, the fact that is does affect WFYABTA limits makes some sense. In a way, the peace deal is essentially a trade. Someone trading stuff for peace. Anyway, thanks for correcting that egregious mistake on my part.
@lymond No problem at all! That incorrect view of the mechanic that you led me to have for a few days made me go into early wars more, and that is always fun.
