Deity of Random - Try 1

I vote for a) as well. Simply because I agree that there's no way we can lose this game now and it seems the less time consuming approach. I'm not going to touch an archipelago map for at least 1 year after this game.

same here:eek:

Anyways, here is our roster:

CellKu up have fun mikroing for hours:p
Flo
Rusten
Snaaty

With a little luck, game ends before I´m up again:king:

...

EDIT:

@ Flo: You are up in SG 25a...

Flo7: if you are serious, I will be back in a few weeks to post here... (if I really concentrate on playing...) ;) Why isn't obsolete back from his cottage? ;)
Well, I will see what I can do. But it will be painfully slow... With all this mm...

Lurker's comment: is CellKu really willing to take weeks to play this? :crazyeye: This SG is great, don't let it down, even if you have (from what you say) "already won" ! :king:

JujuLautre, don't worry. ;) I will try my best to push it forward. But right now it is soo much MM that one turn takes like hours (and, unfortunately, I have only the weekends to play). I hope I can post something on Sunday. :)

Just going to echo the previous lurkers. I have loved following this SG and learned a lot from it :) I look forward to seeing it all the way to the end even if I feel for you guys on the MM ;)

Alright, I am finally back! Phew...

To make a long story short...

My parents ended up wanting to stay the whole 2 weeks at the cottage. Then, murphy's law, I caught a deadly case of congestion on the last night! This caused me to spend the next 2 weeks confined to bed, where I even was caughing up blood at one point. And then...... my internet and other things got disconnected because I couldn't attend to any of it. And only NOW, did I finally get my horsehockey DSL back online.

Now... to catch up in a ton of stuff I missed...

Grrr, I keep checking now and still no updates?

Cell, what gives! Hopefully you can get some turns posted this weekend. If you still have time issues I guess I can take over from there. 10 turns = what, 15 hours of management? :P

I want to see this one completed through.

Oh, thanks that you are back! :goodjob: My last two weeks were horrible due to a sudden rise in workload and a few business trips. :( So, I could actually "mm" only 2-3 turns. I really apologize for that! Since I am right now preparing the next unexpected trip and will be gone for about two weeks I would be very grateful if you took over. I don't want to keep all our committed readers waiting for another two weeks. :)

There is not that much to tell about what happened during these few turns. I am sending our spies over to the "shared" island, so that they can enter Pericles' main cities and I let one of the former Egyptian cities produce more spies - I tried to pick the one which will churn out a spy every turn with the least overflow. Just in case that our spies screw it and we can't stop Pericles otherwise I thought the Manhattan project would come in handy. So I set research to fission.
The northern cities are still producing (whipping) infrastructure, the remaining cities either finish what was already started before or produce units. Oh, and I started upgrading cannons (to arties) and Galleons (to transports).
Logistics-wise I wanted to build up two fronts - the main one in Zara's north, the other one from Zara's east (= his smaller islands which are less protected). If you don't like it you have still enough time to relocate these units.
Thanks again for taking over and best of luck! :goodjob:

Alright, I did a billion things, too much to list but for the quick notes…

I did not attack Zara. I ended up backing down from this one. I didn’t like the idea of going against Zara when Perc is the real one which is our threat, also Zara is the one who actually likes us now. Besides that, we took a big econ hit when the GA ran out (I figured that would happen), and spreading sushi to more places was costing us a fortune.

Now yes, I know eventually sushi pays off, but in the early stages it’s extremely costly. Anyhow, after many whips and hops I got every city spread with sushi right now, EXCEPT for one, and right now I’m soon to pop the last executive (he should be transported to the most southern city on the map).

Thank god for merchants, or we would have been bankrupt ages ago. But alas, the economy is still afloat, and should pretty much continue to get stronger at this point. Actually, we are still pulling ahead in the whole points area, but still behind in power (expected). But that will change in the near future.

I agree with Cell’s decision for Fission tech, and right now we are finishing of rocketry. The Iron Works city I put in a couple happiness boosters, and right now it is hammering away at building the Manhattan Project (our ace in the hole). And before (or after) Perc launches his space ship, we will launch tactical-nuclear hell upon him. However, I am not talking about just his capital. I want to take his capital, and ALL his cities on that continent (possibly in a single turn). But, in order to do this I want to finish our job of taking out Sitting Bull first. Right now I have a bunch of ships and units loaded, and they are in rage to target any of his 3 cities there. After that, I think we should vassal him right away, and let him keep his useless city up in the far north.

His capital will make a very great pill-box and nuclear silo for punching onto Perc’s 2 most northern cities later on. We will also invade his cities from the sea while the dust is still in the air, and this includes ALL his cities on that continent. And then some…

Anyhow, seems we had some sort of bug. Despite owning the AP, we are NOT getting the benefits. Argggh. I ended up making a couple missionaries, but it took the full 10 Turns just to get them all the way to Egypt’s last city. I was hoping to fix the bug by getting Egypt to convert to hindu, and then expecting us to gain the hammer bonus, etc. Well, at the start of this turn I just spread hindu now, and got Egypt to convert for the price of a tech. Unfortunately, I STILL don’t see the friggen bonus! ********… Anyhow, I am hoping that maybe NEXT TURN finally the dreaded thing will update right and things will be fixed (keeping my fingers crossed). Don’t tell me I built all these hindu temples and will not be getting full bonuses!

BTW, if it works by next turn, and someone from our team decides to either:

A. Research mass media
B. Trade for mass media
C. Accept a gift of mass media

Then I will KILL YOU!!

That aside, if most people think finishing off the job vs. SB is a bad idea, then let us know. Because if so, then we can pull the plug on this invasion plan RIGHT NOW. I have NOT declared the actual war-horn yet (that privilege can go to the next player). The only risk here I see is that perc and sb are buddies, and perc is cautious at us. It is possible sb may FRIENDLY-VASSAL to Perc to save his butt. I was hoping maybe to bribe Zara into the war with us but he’s not interested. He wouldn’t even take fission. I was hoping to do this to prevent Perc from getting involed. Other that that, I suppose SB could bribe Perc, but right now he doesn’t have anything to bribe with, and probably never will. Unless perc would go to war for only 30 gold (hah).

Oh yea, son-of-a-gun, the round I was FINALLY going to spread hindu to Egypt to fix the AP bug, the UN elections came up for free-religion (just great!). I did the only thing I could do, played it safe and DEFYED the vote. So starting next round we will have an unhapiness penalty for what.. 10 turns? Sorry guys, but that’s poker.

BTW, if the vote for banning nuclear weapons comes up on your turn, you better damn well defy it also, or I WILL KILL YOU!!

Anyhow… there’s probably some stuff I forgot. But remember, there are some airships too ready to hit/scout SB’s cities nearby. Also, quite a bit of the units in the trannies can still be upgraded, I just couldn’t do so while trying to spread sushi. There also are some good promoted units near Vienna and inside it too IIRC. Feel free to upgrade them and throw them into the fire.

Also, check the cities each round, starting this round. I have been whipping and whipping and whipping and whipping. Trying to get our economy to stay in the black. Keep the merchant slots filled and keep the infrastructure going.

Oh, in 1826 we popped a GM. The only thing I could have lightbulbed him on was Fashism. Which, I really didn’t care for. Also, keep in mind that RIGHT NOW we can trade fission to Napoleon for it. I suggest doing so, as I really wouldn’t mind the paratroopers, etc.

We still have the GM, I figured we could save him for another GA later on, but we’ll need another 2 GP’s in order to do so (all different). So, we can either lighbuilb him on something else if you want, or do a trade mission, I don’t really care much at this point. AND…. We still have 2 great generals about IIRC. If military academies do boost nuclear arms production, perhaps that would be a good choice? I really want to unleash nuclear hell, and we’ll need a lot. Perc may have the SDI already built by then.

Hmm, what else…. I think in 1838 we reached 50 million population. Also…. Perc has completed the SS engines. What he doesn’t have are…
Statis chamber, thrusters, and casings. He’s saving those priority techs for last.

Our Manhattan project should be complete 9 turns from now.

Oh yeah… some last things. Perc canceled a nice deal we had. We were giving him furs for 2 sea foods and some gold. I renegotiated it again for just 1 sea food and some gold though.

Also he came wanting to trade for one of our aluminums. Ahaha!

Oh yeah, and we have 2 spies left in one of perc’s cities. I think it would be much better if in fact we had opened trades with him. It would give us better spy jobs on him, and it is rather hectic positioning the navy when both SB and Perc don’t have open borders with us. Right now, if we want to attack SB’s capital in just 2 turns, we’d have to do it by crossing that dreaded river.

And... before I go to bed, some further things. Our Manhattan project will be done in ABOUT 9 turns. I say ABOUT because I just realized that there is no shale-plant in it yet. Tut-tut-tut! Next in line, please switch que to shale-plant immediately!

Now... while Perc did get a huge start on lasers, the trick of the matter is that he is NOT allowed to build the SDI until we complete the last hammer of our Manhattan prj. So... what does this mean? It means, if we are fast enough, we can whomp his capital with nukes before he can get his defense up. This is huge! To get a 100% successful hit on every nuke attempt. Most likely he will try building it in his capital, which means he'll have to restart it over again in another high production city.

It will cost him 1000 hammers, because he has no aluminum booster. BTW, if you give, or trade aluminum to Per, then I WILL KILL YOU!

That aside, it only costs us 500 hammers for each ICBM, and 250 for each t-nuke. I suggest we immediately switch at least 4 of our highest production cities to ICBM builds at that moment, and a few other mid-production cities to t-nukes. The instant we get 4 ICBM's, we go for the capital. We can do it fast enough, I think, especially if we are not shy about doing a mass whip of population to shave off even another turn or so of launching. This would be such a huge advantage to hit unrestrained like that.

3 ICBM should be enough for the capital, but 4 for insurance incase we roll bad on kill-checks and it is rediculously over-defended.

BTW, we can also install our military academies, assuming they speed up nuke building?

And the instant we take over Corinth, we'll also get a free spiritual trait. Can't complain about that, especially when it removes it from our enemies.

As for our next tech, I think it should be flight. I want airports, not so much for the extra trade-route, but because being able to airdrop units all over the board soon will be a big help. And that's putting it lightly. We can even airdrop into cities we take on the same turn.

The other techs are almost useless to us at this point. Computers just will obsolete so many of our goodies. Radio has no purpose to us whatsoever, nor does mass media. The only thing radio may give us worth while is submarines for carrying t-nukes. But if we nail perc fast enough, and also have SB's capital, then we won't need it either.

The real question is, what to tech after flight?

@all: as I will be away for about two weeks (starting today) an will have no Internet access I would be grateful if you put me at the end of the roster. :) I am looking forward to being back and seeing what has developed til then. Godd luck! :goodjob:

@ Team:

Seems like we changed plan from attacking Zara (quick ending) to attacking Bull + Peri (looooong ending)...

I don´t know if I can force myself to play this out:blush::rolleyes:

@ Rusten @ Flo:

With CellKu gone, Obsolete played and me hinding (somwhere far, far away from any archipelagos, islands and other such things) this makes one of you two UP.

Whoever feels like playing... ....go for it... (just post a short "go it")

...

@ Obsolete and everybody else willing to play some turns in this game out there:

I think nobody would object if ANYBODY volunteeres to play some turns here... ...please... ......
