I think it's very easy for someone to be critical of a 'junket'; and it's very easy to have good cause to be critical of a 'junket'. It's also easy to criticise such a trip, even though such criticism is unwarranted.

I've certainly partaken of things that looked like unreasonable 'perks' when in fact they were mostly necessary to get the job done or not all that unreasonable.

And the Republican that scoffed about the trip to Belgium isn't even named. I wonder what junkets this Republican has been on and why he is nameless in the article.

Well, I haven't read the opinions yet, so I don't know how "liberal" they were, but it's interesting to see who Alito is siding with. In one case, even Roberts abandoned Scalia & Thomas.
