Democratic Succesion Game

Omg i hate the slave revolt events, they just keep on repeating.

True...it's one of the more subtle things that brings me some hesitation when Slavery becomes available, not to mention the Medium Civic cost.

Joe Harker is up again by the way.

(quote should cross out my name)

Is it my go?

Ok, thanks. :)

Is it my go?

I've got it :)

(to keep the actual vBulletin code in a quote, it's usual best to actually use the quote button on a post, instead of copying the text). I plan on playing tomorrow afternoon (CET)

Roster:
dutchfire - up
Joe Harker - on deck
kwarriorpoet -
DaveShack -
Methos - just played

Were we adding someone? It got too confusing for the :old: guy to follow there for a while.

That's the current roster indeed, w00ter didn't want to be added as far as I know, and he couldn't open the save. (though that has been resolved by now).

turn 91: Vijayanagra starts settler
Axe from Pataliputra starts moving NW

turn 92: workers start improving Pataliputra ivory

turn 93: meet Huayna Capac, he has 2 cities, and is Christian (founded it)

turn 94: Bombay Axe-Axe

turn 96: Delhi Settler-Settler
Islam spreads in Bombay

turn 97: Bombay Axe-Worker

turn 98: Vijayanagara finishes settler, starts library (scientists)
Pataliputra: monument-library (culture)

turn 100: finish Alphabet, start Currency
Bombay Worker-Axe
Varanisi founded (dye city), starts monument
Lose 2 axes while trying to take Cherokee, both had 61% odds
Agra founded (island city) starts monument
We're at 60%, running -1 gpt

Mansa, De Gaulle and Capac are missing Writing
Mansa won't give anything, and De Gaulle and Capac will give Polytheism or Pottery or Archery. I pick Polytheism and Pottery (most expensive)

turn 101: Delhi Settler-Granary

Trade situation:
Wang Kon is down Polytheism, and will trade it for Priesthood (oracle has been built) or Archery

We are up Maths and Alphabet on everyone
We are down archery and iron working on everyone
We are down priesthood on everyone but Qin
We are down Monotheism on Mansa and Capac
We are down Meditation on Wang Kon (won't trade)
We are down Horsebackriding on Qin (won't trade)

11 turns left on Currency, at 60%, -1 gpt, 123 gold left

We should find a city in the south near the Fur/Deer next turn, settler is already in place, worker is in place to hook up the deer

Focus for next turnsets:
Take Cherokee (bring more than 2 axes)
Increase Pataliputra's culture, it's fighting a culture war
Keep the economy in shape
Research Currency
Settle two remaining city sites as marked in-game

I think our first victim should be Mansa, as he's very close to some of our cities. I think we should complete Currency to give us the necessary economical backbone, and then Construction to increase our military power. We should produce some Axes/Spears already, so we'll only have to build cats before we can go to war. I believe we should also set espionage towards Mansa, but Methos can correct me on that.

Correct, I can open the saves now. And indeed I don't want to be added just yet. Maybe after a couple of rounds when I get to understand our strategy etc.

Too bad the odds where against you with the Cherokee (or they were with you but the outcome was not).

Two city raider 1 axes vs. 2 archers. Both axes had 61% odds, both lost.
There was a .3721 chance of both winning
There was a .4758 chance of one winning (in which case the second would have been able to kill the other archer the next turn, probably)
There was a .1521 chance of both losing, which happened :(

It was a risk worth taking IMO though.

Got the save, plan to play sometime tomorrow, job, F1 and football permitting
