Department of Turnplay

If they're really planning on upgrading to Knights then they've gotten iron from somewhere but it isn't us. And because we're surrounded by contiguous ocean squares I don't think there's a trade route available to the Babes until we get to Magnetism. If iron from us figures into their plans it's certainly not in the short term.

I think if we have Iron hooked up we need to consult the CAII tool to see if it's available for trade to the Babes. And if we need to hook up the second iron to see that then we should just for the intel and then pillage the road to keep pumping warriors if that's our want.

We have 49 cities and at turn 115 we had ~620 total culture.

Is there a tool out there that would not only extract the build and bulid date (to calc doubling) info but also allow us to game it by putting in other build scenarios to manage our 100k date?

Yes CAII will do it - select the relevent building in the economy tab and it will show you which city built it when which cities are building it and how long they have to go. I think you can export it (edit:yes - right click and select export) or cut and paste it into a spreadsheet.

anyway - looking at the numbers - 9cpt built looks about right. This is calculated as 55 cities (eventually) at 2spare food each = 110 spare food per turn = 5.5 pop per turn = 220 sheilds per turn = 3 80 sheild builds per turn = 9 culture per turn.

That will go until we reach 8 (2+3+3) base culture per city (i.e. 440cpt) which will be 28 turns later - at that point we will have 9600 culture or thereabouts but the built culture will then drop to about 4per turn (either from uni's or collus)

By the time you include the culture doubling 100k is hit on turn 261

The man is a machine! A round of   for some quick cipherin'.

Somebody has obviously been spending time in the Great Gong Library.

OK, we'll keep turn 261 as a rough order of magnitude for a finish, which is more than enough for our purposes at this point, and will update as the builds come in and the pencils get sharper.

Turn 261 puts us 40% of the way through the game. We're through more than 25% of the "ages" with marines sitting at about the 70% mark. So it's really going to be totally circumstantial. Can a couple of teams cooperate to get to Marines in time to stop us? Will anyone else be going culture and therefore push our 100K limit higher? Will Daghie keep the baby? Will Dr. markh save Bugs from mal-lyric-itis? Will RFH find out that Cane is really his conjoined twin brother? Will all four opponents land units next turn making all this moot? And just what is a "moot"?

More nonsense and much more drivel on tomorrow's episode of "Our Guiding Gong".

Nah - the man just does this sort of stuff for a living! :D - try coming up with the probability of 3 medium sized hurricanes hitting the US in the next 18 months.

Well, the Babes seem to be sitting on many boats w/ units and are looking for an alternate landing zone because Saber has lined it's coasts w/ units.

Plan B seems to be one of the FC Axis.

I find it hard to believe they have NOWHERE to land. Are they just moving units to match the BABE ships?

Boy the BABES are being shady.

Anyone want to play the turn with me later on MSN? 3-5 hours from now I was thinking.

Well, there's another 44cpt on the way next turn to take us to 177cpt.

With 49 cities w/ a temple, lib and cath we'll have a base of 392cpt. Toss in a few wonders, unis and markets to help pay for the upkeep and we'll be sitting pretty.

We'll always fall back upong the power of the Pyramid, once our people are through being pissed at us, to repopulate and whip 'em up again.

I think we will be well above 9 cpt until we hit the 440 culture wall (our food per turn will be greater than 2; cities get half whipped if they cant grow and can handle temp. unhappiness so most are +3 and +4 food). We should be at 225c in 5 turns and 275c-300 in 10. Let me calculate to give you better numbers next turn.

That is priceless jb!

Every turn we take off the rush to 440 base culture takes slightly more than 1 turn off the overall date. if we hit it in 20 turns (8 quicker than assumed - averaging 12 cpt per turn) then we shave 9 turns off the win date. What we really need to speed up the date is some more land, because we actually run out of stuff to build (turn 215 on the new schedule)

Are we forgetting about colosseums in our culture figuring?

Temple - 2
Library - 3
Colosseum - 2
Cathedral - 3

That would get us to 10 cpt. Add universities once we have education thrust upon us and that put us to 13.

With 49 cities that is a base of 490 before and 637 after. That doesn't include wonders and the palace.

Unis=4 cpt. So if we build all the junk its 14 cpt per city, or 700 with 50 cities. The only problem is that whipping Colosseums and Unis cost 6 and 10 pop respectively!!!!!!

Are we forgetting about colosseums in our culture figuring?

Yes, completely! Why? Because I forgot all about them. :crazyeye:

And as Cane has pointed out, they're expensive. So, as we move down the road we will certainly be able add in colosseums as circumstances allow.

Oh, I understand, but we might want to start building some of those as soon as our military situation is stable.

I wasn't forgetting about them - the 440 is 55 cities at 8 cpt (temp lib and cat as they are good culture builds at around 26 shields per culture per turn) the next phase of 4 cpt per turn was building at 50 sheilds per cpt (uni's) or 60 (colluseums) - we get to a pre doubling 770 cpt

per my original calculation we finish round 1 on turn 190 (though case recons he will be done before that)

we finish round 2 on turn 223

culture doubling for phase 1 kicks in on turn 190 and ends 246 thereafter we are receiving culture doubling from phase 2

Turn is in. If anyone wants to get on MSN, let me know what time. The turn will have to be played in the next 8 hours I figure. Any orders?

Free has sailed a galley inside our cultural border w/o asking for permission and sent a mail saying they want peaceful relations and blah, blah. I'm not impressed by their approach. I'd say :
Crossing a cultural border without asking for permission (and getting it) is a violation of good manners. We do not appreciate this action of yours. Leave our waters immediately, then maybe we can great you cheerfully.
