[Development Thread] BtS Unofficial Expansion: World of Legends

I dont know if u familiar with CIv3 or not but before u could customize units with bombarment to kill other units, like bombers, fighters, battleships, cannons, etc. I use to love that, give real power to Carriers out in the Sea able to sink enemy ships(also i would make them able to carry up to 8 units too, to make them powerful)

i hope u get my idea, im tryin to make something like this in a world map so i can play and tested, in Civ3 conquest the AI would really have Naval power thanks to the Carriers because they can sink ur ships without spottin them(air bombarment)

^ah. I see. d'you mean like you can select a canon, tell it to hit the rifleman to the right and not to the city above, and possibly damage the rifleman?

The idea isn't too radical as some other ones. Perhaps it could be included if we figure out a balanced way to do it. But, as for now, we'll keep it on the list of "possiblys" :)

yes like that, and also that u can bombard units till u kill them not just to some % like is set.

ty for ur time, you are the first person to awnser me this Q

^actually, because we are sorta having some repetitive bonuses for UUs, that idea could work for some of them, though right now theres nothing that would come off the top of my head...

:D

+25% inside borders ?
is a good idea for the Polish Winged Hussar (or cavalry, never mind the name).

are you going to include some crappy UU's too? (like Gallic War)
Just saw it, you didn't understand... Ah, well...

Make a unit that sucks and bothers the fans, like the Gallic Warrior :D Find some unit that could do and make it a bit weaker. ;)

Oh, more ideas...

The Mounty could, as someone stated earlier, count as a +1 :) modifier in city.

And maybe the Heavy Chariot could *only* get the +50% bonus, not recieving the normal +100% vs Axemen.

No idea at the moment but i put these words for follow this thread...

I need an advice for an PC upgrade : If i get Core 2 Duo E6750/6850
plus 3 Go 800 Mhz bicanale DDR2 (3x1 Go) plus 8800 GTS 640 Mo

and taking the fact that i stay on Win XP SP2 32 bits

Is it ok ? Could be make your mod function well with not slowing ?

:goodjob:

^I would not be so sure, as I lack much computer knowledge. However, if BtS works on your computer, then the mod should work.

Depending on the amount of stuff we do add, it may slow down your computer regardless.

BtS takes ~1.4 gb on the computer btw... How much space are you aiming to fill? it IS an xpack :p

I can say that my actual config' is :( because badly upgraded in october november 2006...

in June 2005 : P4 3.4 Ghz Hyper Treading + 2x512 DDR 533 Mhz + 6600 GT 128 Mo

in Oct/Nov 2006 : added 1 Go DDR2 Bicanale 667 Mhz and keeping my first two 512 Mo of Ram 533 Mhz DDR (re :( ) and replaced my 6600 GT 128 Mo by a 7900 GS 256 Mo

Concluding : a completly desiquilibrated config'
All by the fault of the counsellor/seller of my PC assembler

as result my games are slow...

less or more asking ram that Total Realism 2.2 ?

Because Total Realism 2.2 is hell for the memory...

I am not currently sure, but depending on how big the main feature of the "expansion", the heroes, get (that'll include tons of XML and python stuff, not to mention a LOT of art), it *could* get close to as big as TR, but I don't think it will get bigger than that. the other features probably wouldn't take up as much space.

^Yeah. We'll try to make it as small as possible without taking anything away from the mod. There will be a mac compatible version as well. :D

Excluding that whole Mac bit there is no reason to suffer through slow python :)

I'll gladly port the majority of the python code into the DLL for improved performance. Come to think of it, that's probably the best way to handle the Mac side, develop it first using Python (2.3 commands only for the Mac guys) and then move complex parts, as needed, into the DLL for the PC version.

BTW, you should all check my info center (signature "member of the wOL mod team") at CivUnited, a lot of good info there and some screenies. Still being added to.
