[Development Thread] BtS Unofficial Expansion: World of Legends

If you must see, I can try to post a screenie of an UNFINISHED throne room in the not so distant future...:mischief:

that would be really admirable... it's something i've been wanting o see since i found this thread back a few months ago.

sorry it took a while, this is unifinished, jsut a preview. needs lots of work, australian throne.

^They all use the same skin, so all my hard work isn't down the drain. :D But when we figure out how to implement it in game, thanks for that. (I thought the donut was the camera position or something)

Looks good. it';s going to be like it was in the other versions of civ, right? customizable?

^whether it is customizable or not depends on how the team is able to implement the feature. of course, in the ideal situation that we want, it would be, but of course in reality this may not be possible. but hopefully it will

^It should be workable, we've got an SDK and Python man, and me! We can make it like another advisor. Who knows why Firaxis abandoned it, but that also is none of our consern.

Only half of one for now, the other half is still out :P

Not to be a downer here, but Civ-Specific-ness in this case is a BIG problem. It means you will have over 40 different throne rooms to make, and every single one of these has to be customizable. For example, just like in Civ 3 you'll have to be able to combine a Roman column with a Chinese pagoda, if you so wanted. That means 40 different skin selectors cluttering up the interface... This is the one time where you will hear Gaius Octavius, the grandfather of the civ-specific movement, complaining about it. This is the one case where I firmly believe that just making five or six "cultural" styles is better.

Remember, one of our goals is to get Firaxis to look at this seriously, possibly implementing it in the full BtS game in a future patch! They won't do that if you have over 40 different styles! It'll be too clumsy. :hmm:

Why not just have a set design of a throne room a la Civ2 (one stock throne room for everyone, with a set of choosable objects)? if you do that, and possible add the civ's flag, it shouldn't clutter too much up.

OMG you didn't mention that!! good if you manage to do so ;)

oh, and everyone, I'd like to make two announcements:

1. Sadly, due to reality, WoL team member TheLastOne36 has "retired" from the team. Although he will still be honored as a "retired team member", and will receive credit, he will no longer work on the mod with us.

2. We would like to warmly welcome Seven05 into the team. He will be serving as our SDK master and he will also help in python and XML. Welcome!

Another announcement:
Our homesite, Civunited, is down for a few hours today, and guests will be able to see subforums (after it's fixed)! :D
