DG4 Discussion - Const: Anything Else

As we're getting through the last sections of the Constitution, there were a few suggestions for things that ought to be in the Constitution, but aren't.

Actually, I can remember one - playing the save.

In DG2, the prohibition against playing the save is in the CoL. DG3, of course, had it in the Constitution. This prohibition is perhaps one of the most sacred rules in the demogames. For that reason, I am proposing that we adopt the DG3 clause with a few slight wording changes:

Commission of any game action that is not instantly reversible by any person other than the Designated Player while carrying out his/her duties is strictly forbidden.
Exception: Determining options in the renegotiation of Peace agreements requires an action of acceptance or war to exit the bargain screen. This may be done but the game must be immediately closed without saving.

I'd like to add the following bolded text, to ensure that any future attempts to subvert this by loophole-hunting smartarses are scotched before they even begin:

Commission of any game action that is not instantly reversible without reloading the save by any person other than the Designated Player while carrying out his/her duties is strictly forbidden.
Exception: Determining options in the renegotiation of Peace agreements requires an action of acceptance or war to exit the bargain screen. This may be done but the game must be immediately closed without saving.

Maybe the first line should read as this:

Commission of any game action by any person other than the Designated Player while carrying out his/her duties that is not instantly reversible without reloading the save is strictly forbidden.

The way it is above looks like the save must be reloaded by the DP.

That wording would indeed be better. Mine could also be taken to mean that the DP can get away with reloading, now that I re-read it, and that is far from my intent.

The wording proposed to this point looks good and I think this should be in the constitution.

So, the current proposal is:

Commission of any game action by any person other than the Designated Player while carrying out their duties that is not instantly reversible without reloading the save is strictly forbidden.
Exception: Determining options in the renegotiation of Peace agreements requires an action of acceptance or war to exit the bargain screen. This may be done but the game must be immediately closed without saving.

Any objections to starting the poll for this tonight?

Should we make this an article in and of itself, or should it be added to Article K(the one dealing with turnchats)? We still have to write that one, ya know.... ;)

Please, I'm trying to forget that. ;) I know ... I know ... last word on that from me ... for a while. I'll not participate in that discussion - I can think of too many ways to introduce significant flaws.

They should be seperate articles. I would put the census and amendment process article as the absolute last article.

Remember, RF.....Article K is not written yet, and the vote was close enough to presume that we can word it to include items like "quick chats" and the like. I know that is far from your wishes, but it is a reasonable compromise. :)

I agree with your placement of the articles you've mentioned.

The poll about the system of government finished with a strong plurality (but not a majority) in favor of Council of Four? Are we going to follow through on that plan, or repoll it, or what?

Not sure what you mean here Boots. Shouldn't this be in the Executive thread, which is currently setup as Pres + 4.

Bump - I had forgotten about this article.
