DGIT4-Maelstrom at Sea

Now c'mon there Alerum. You were supposed somehow take our few cities and set up a force for Oblivion to conquer all with! :D Anyhow, no prob. Whoa! I think I just saw a flying pig.

Oblivion... You're up! Good luck. You'll need it.

1)-Oblivion- <-- UP
2)Blasphemous <-- On Deck
3)SolarKnight
4)SandrockLQ
5)SpikeIt <-- skip 10/2 to 10/9
6)Smellincoffee <-- Just Played
7)alerum68 <-- skip

BTW, as you can see from the roster, I'm on vacation starting tomorrow. Maybe, just maybe this baby will be back to me by the time I return next Saturday. If beforehand, skip me.

Turn 0: 1250 BC

HBR, writing and $20 to Arabia for Polytheism.
Tech leaders from everyone but Arabia.
Build an embassy with Arabia - three spears, 8spt and the Oracle in 8 turns. Abu turns polite.
Build an embassy with China - 2 spears, 5spt, settler in 5 turns.
Russia and Ottomans are at war.

Turn 1: 1225 BC

Move the settler pair. We will found plonk next to an Arabian city, but it can't be helped. This will be a good city.
Isabella picks up construction. We get it and $36 for Polytheism.

Turn 2: 1200 BC

Decide to move our settler back a bit - it is quite a high probability that Arabia will attack if we found on the border. Realise Copenhagen is 1 turn from a regular spear - we are militaristic so i switch to barracks, now in 1 turn.

We need a bit more punch so i move the warrior out of Trondheim towards Bergen to upgrade it - Bergen has a barracks. Lux goes up as a result of the loss of MP.

Turn 3: 1175 BC

Copenhagen barracks-spearman
Found Reykajvik. It is packed in two tiles from Trondheim, but we have to pack them in. If we don't, we will be attacked. Starts on a barracks.

Turn 4: 1150 BC

Upgrade one warrior. Bump up research to 90% to get Philo in 13 turns. We won't get it at min research.

Turn 5: 1125 BC

Trondheim Granary-barracks. Slip one in before a settler.
Mongols still don't have alphabet.

Turn 6: 1100 BC

Upgrade two warriors.

Turn 7: 1075 BC

Nothing

Turn 8: 1050 BC

Nothing

Turn 9: 1025 BC

Lux up to 20% as Trondheim grows.
Trondheim barracks-settler.
Growth in 5, settler in 5.
Bergen Spear-Sword

Turn 10: 1000 BC

Still no trading possibilities. Hope we get philo on turn.
Arabian settler pair approaches.

Notes:

We are tech leaders, and we will have philosophy soon. Hit F4 every turn for trading oppurtunities. See if we can pick up CoL from someone so we can get Republic as are free tech.

Keep founding cities - the island to the north isn't occupied.
Maybe we can hit Abu sometime if we can get some swords together, a quick war razing a few cities, giving us some breathing space.

NIce set. I honestly didn't think we would last too long. It still remains to be seen if we can recover from the early settler/wrorker loss.

Of course we can survive. The question is now if we can prosper and win.
I agree.
I think if we don't capitalize on our upcoming UU and its abilities we have no chance... Perhaps we should lead quick wars of conquest where our Berserkir simply sieze coastal cities from various nations... As long as we hold the city we can continue later to conquer the enemy's lands. Since our advantage will be coastal raids we may not want to bother too much with pure land conquest once we start preparing our archers for mass upgrade. And worst comes to worse we can use the Berserk's awesome offensive power to attack via land as well.

Yes, we can truely dominate the middle ages. We should start building an army now. The main attack strentgh for Zerks is a naval assault, keeping them off the ground and out of harms away as much as possible.

I have some bad news Gentlemen. Because of my workload, (45 hours a week), and my schoolwork, (About another 30 hours a week), I don't have much time for anything besides sleeping.:( I'm going to need to drop out of SGs until further notice. I plan to be back when things slow down again, but there's just to much to do, and to little time to do it, and I'm afraid the entertainment is the first to go.:( It's been great playing with y'all, and like I said I do plan on coming back when things slow down.

Hope to see you back soon. =\

Good luck, it was fun playing with you, and hope to see you back.

Bleh, you guys need to tell me these things! ><
Will play tomorrow, meanwhile tell me specifically what not to screw up this time. =\

Don't gift our cities to the AI.

Well, I'm out of sound advice....

You sure I shouldn't? I mean, wouldn't it placate the Arabs if we just gave them our lands freely? =P

Oh, yeah, good point! Yeah, if you feel it neccessary, gift cities away. Or maybe we could produce workers and sell them as slaves to the highest bidder? :hmm:

Oooh, let's be original and sell it to the lowest bidder! I mean, they prolly need the extra roadbuilding more than the rest, right? ;)

Good point! See, that's why you play on Emperor and I just linger on Monarch. ;)

Yes, you see, it's important to nurture powerful allies when you're the underdog... That way they can technically help you while you do the dirty work and then later when you're bored you have a good opponent to fight with.
I'll play in an hour or two, I hope.

As usual, I forgot to play and am now on my way to bed, all but exhausted after watching the US Pres. Debate. Someone please post something here sometime in the next few hours so I don't forget again (I'll see there's a new message in the thread tomorrow morning unless something goes horribly, horribly wrong.)
Thanks in advance to whoever posts and sorry for continually screwing up. =P

What are you now, Bla? 89, 90? ;)
