Don't be emmbarassed to say no.

Also, could you post what Civ you were playing, what kind of victory it was, what difficulty level it was on, and if you can remember: How many points you scored? The first time you ever played Civ4 remember (or the first time you had a whole game-exclude the tutorial).

Oh, and, for the record I did win my first game. Chieftan difficulty, British civ, domination victory, 6500+ points.

Heh, the first time I was playing Catherine, at the cheiftan difficulty level. Won by "diplomatic" means. Heh. Basically, I had a high enough population that I voted myself in. And I had only taken over two civilizations. I think that the happiness and health bonuses must have let my cities get ridiculously big. I think I had around 5000 points, but I'm not sure.

First time with Bismark, on Warlord. Around 6000 points, with Space race victory.

Of course I won. On Settler i think there isn't a way to lose a game :crazyeye: i used mansa musa, spaceship, about 4500 pts i think.

Ya. I won, but I forget the leader and score. It was conquest and on Warlord.

Yes, I won my first game. I started at the bottom on Settler/Chieftain (whichever it is). Won a space race victory, cant' remember who with though. It was probably Ghandi because I used to think he was da coolest.... times change :)

Yeah, I'd never played any Civ before so I started on Settler. Not sure it's possible to lose on Settler, is it? I won by points at the end of the game :)

Won by domination on Noble. That game was the first serious game, I started a few others just to see how different settings affected things, but didn't play any past getting a couple of techs and building a couple of cities, just to get a feel for the differences from Civ3.

I could have continued playing them, there weren't any major mistakes or horrible setbacks in them, I just wanted to see a lot of different things quickly :)

I won a culture victory my first game on settler. I basically hit enter a lot after founding three cities.

Yes, I won my first game. Settler difficulty, playing FDR. I spread the American Christian Theocracy all around the planet, and then voted myself a Diplomatic victory when I got tired of playing.

The next game was an easy Domination win on Chieftain, followed by an easy Conquest win on Warlord. Then I got overconfident, and experienced a stunning loss on Noble with Raging Barbs.... It was some consolation that my civ was not the first civ to be defeated by the Barbs; Washington took the hit a few centuries before I did. :spank: Darn Barbs!

Won, but it was only Settler :D . It was a Space Race Victory with Caesar, around 4000 points. Then I moved up to Warlord and won another Space Race victory. Since this game I'm desperately trying to beat Noble, I've had several attempts with various civs. Best shot at the moment seems to be my current game with Gandhi, I most likely will win this...and finally get my first Noble win.

No - First attempt was on Noble - I think I was the Americans (Washington?). I lost to a German Space Race victory. (I spent too much time waging war against the Mongols before I realized how much this hurt my economy, and didn't understand the importance of cottages.)

Since then, I am generally better, but still have a challenge beating Noble. I have played Warlord, and easily crushed it. There is apparently a major shift in my play-style that has to change before I can advance to higher difficulty levels.

I got my butt handed to me in my first game of civ3. But after getting good at civ3 I didn't find civ4 to be much different and won my first game easily on noble.

Yes, way too easily. Inca, noble difficulty, duel pangea map, 4 civs (including me), won by domination before 1 AD (would have been won by conquest only a few turns later). Got Julius Caesar ranking.

neither.
i was a little scared off by all the differences betwee 3 and 4 posted here so i started on settler. quit around 1200bc as it was too easy.
won my first game at each level up through monarch.
didnt make it to AD above monarch on first games.

Yes I won my first game on Civ4, but it was on Settler. I won a domination victory in 1945 with Napoleon and ended with 6500+ points, but it was too easy. I probally shoud have played Chieftain or Warlord, but it was much easier than Civ3 and I couldn't beat Warlord in Civ3(wait I could get past the middle ages in a good game;) ).
