Also BB, I feel we've got plenty defensive units. I normally keep 1 - 2 in a city, unless they're near a front. I built up our offensive forces w/ more h/men.

[Lurking]
dojoboy is right. You don't need alot of defensive units in cities aren't close to the conflict. Especially when you have hoplites in Thermopylae and Sparta.

kewl, well just got my wisdom teeth out...so I'll let you guys do the thinking

I'll definitely build more workers, but I have one question, should I go to war with france soon?

Keep Civving!

Your choice. I feel we definitely could use Joan's southern cities, particularly if we build our FP in that area.

Kewl, I'll see if I can do it tonight...but I can't make any promises :)

We'll see if Vicodin and Rockstar enhances Civ-playing Ability! :-P

Here's the story:

780 ______
790
800
810
820
830: Game Saved. Have a great leader Pyrrhus being sent to Thermop. To rush Sun Tzu's Art of War :) Still at war with French...should be able to completely decimate them by 1000 AD, I think?

Awesome Game...Really loving it...much more fun than the current GOTM (even though I love the job that cracker and team did with the Asian graphics...conquest is still giving me a really hard time...oh well, I'll just keep playing these kinds of games...thanks Dojoboy!) :goodjob:

Yes, definitely after the war...build our FP in the new French cities...maybe use Great Leader to rush that instead of Sun Tzu's? Naww...nevermind...FP can be built at any time...I'm being silly!

Preturn: BB, I finished out your last turn, until all movements are complete. Rushed SunTzu w/ Great Leader. ;)

(17) 1000 AD - Athens b knights, set to knight; IBT -> GL provides Gunpowder! ;)

(18) 1010 AD - Sparta b knight, set to knight.

(19) 1020 AD - Pillaging Poiters w/ h/lite from galley.

(20) 1030 AD - Delphi b knight, set to knight.

Observations: War w/ France going well, but we won't be able to eradicate them quickly. Joan has two cities off our continent, each on a separate island. Do we want to? Eh? England is w/ out iron, so would succumb easily to Greek Hegemony, probably williingly. ;) Rome and India are set up nicely. I was amazed to see their landmass. We may want to try a build a settlement there ASAP to have a foothold for future maneuvers if necessary. If we get a GL during the French War, do we rush the FP or build an army? The FP could go some where amongst the eastern cities of our Empire, or in Paris. The French AI didn't really leave us with a nice cluster, just three cities near to Paris. I built some marketplaces and recommend we build some more, since only England will soon remain on our continent. We should build the economy as well, eh? Enjoy Lysander (aka BuddhaBubba)!

I think I will rush the FP and build it near the westernmost cluster of cities...I think this should work well...

As for France...let's let them have their Island. Maybe we'll even be friends again one day.

As for England...I say we build up our economy and culture and take English cities by culture-flipping (is that the Greek Hegemony you were talking about?)...eventually, they'll probably declare war on us, I think.

As for Rome and India, I'd rather not build any foothold...just concentrate on a super-strong navy that will hold off any invasion by the blood-thirsty romans and then building up an invasion force to take the Romans out if they keep pissing us off.

Other than that, I'm usually not a warmonger but I kinda like how this game is going. :) BTW, what's with the Lysander? (I'm not familiar with the reference, did you mean Lao Tzu? >>>which means Teacher in Chinese btw)

Cheers!

Wait a minute, you have a PTW icon on your signature, does that mean you have it already?

Sounds like a good plan to me. :goodjob:

Lysander was a great Spartan general, died 395 B.C.

Yes, I do have PTW, but its the PC version for my school laptop. I started a Civ3 club for my middle school students. They love it. To be quite honest, PTW isn't so good that its worth lugging my laptop home everyday. But, the extra civs are nice. I would like to have PBEM ability though rather than MP, more practical.

Awesome, I must admit that I recently resurrected my PC and bought PTW. But I only play Hotseat with my friend infrequently. If you want to do a PBEM with PTW next that would be awesome. Or we could just stick to the Mac...whatever sounds good. I think there's one of the PTW civs that I haven't played yet so that would be cool...anyway, I'll do my 20 turns tonight and send you the save.

Keep Civving!

Continuing the Greek Hegemony via the leadership of Lysander :)

1030 AD: Start Turn
1040: Paris Captured! With the Great Wall, Leonardo's Workshop, and Oracle no Less!
1050
1060
1070: French city by Paris captured, French War Ends
1080: Peace declared with France; got 100 gold, WM, TM, and Toulouse (city on a tiny frozen island). France is left with one city, haha! :) :)

Ok, that's all the turns I'm gonna play for now...you can play as many turns as you like...just let me know how many you do so I can match you once I have more time on Thursday to Sunday :)

Yay! ;)

:king:

Well...ok :)

"Building the Infrastructure"
1080: Concentrating on building cathedrals and upgrading all Hoplites to Musketmen.
1090
1100
1110: Traded Wines and Gunpowder to Rome for Ivory and WM
1120
1130
1140
1150
1160
1170
1180
1190: GL made obsolete by Education...about 10 cities are now building universities...no more free tecks :(
1200: Switched Athens to build Sistine Chapel in 39 turns (since Rome will only finish in 51 turns in their city of Antium). :)
1210
1220
1230: Traded Spices to England for 140 gold and 4 gold/turn.

Ok, I'm guessing we should pump up the science rate as soon as we have a good amount of universities...then tecks should only take 4 turns a piece and the AI will be left in the dust! Hahaha :-D

That's it, may the light be with the Greeks!

1345 AD - unit & infrastructure production; IBT -> renewed spice deal to England for wm, 14gpt, & 20 gold.

1350 AD - unit & infrastructure production.

Observations: The city governors are killing me, but I'll bear it for you BB. ;) Focused production on marketplaces, univsersities, and courthouses. Tryig to head for the science wonders to ensure our tech advantages. We ought to start a palace prebuild for Newton's University. ended RoP w/ England in case they attack (no quick hit by Elizabeth). With the additional luxuries coming through trade, I bumped our sliders to 4-6-0. Enjoy BB!

ok, thanks for bearing the city governors...i know, they're like monkees without tiredness...crazy monkey governors...

yeah, I'll set Therm. to pre-build palace for Newton's but I might also switch it to Smith's Trading Co. once Economics is discovered...

yup, that's all I have to say about that

may the second golden age of greece begin!

-Lysander (1/2 Socrates)

Here we go:

(note, if date is blank the default action is unit and infrastructure construction)

1350: Starting Turn, Traded Music Theory and Navigation to the French for Free to "try" to make them happy. They're still furious at us. Oh well. ;-)
1355: Learned Theory of Gravity, Research set to Magnetism.
Traded Saltpeter to England for Economics.
1360: Traded 500 Gold to India for Gems. :)
1365
1370
1375
1380
1385
1390
1395
1400
1405: Richmond (the small island city) culture flips to us. :goodjob:
1410: Traded 599 Gold, 10 Gold per Turn to English for Military Tradition. Commencing upgrading of all Knights to Cavalry.
1415
1420
1425
1430
1435
1440
1445: Traded Nationalism to the Indians for a LOT of stuff. :) Traded Nationalism to the English for a LOT of stuff. :)
1450: End Turn. Game Saved.

I'm researching democracy right now...maybe it's a bad idea, but I'm thinking we're going really peaceful and could benefit a lot from the bonus research that Dem. Usually provides. War with the British seems tiring (hey, it's 1am right now!)...war with the Romans seems inevitable...so I suggest building a ton of infantry and artillery and navy once we get the tecks for them. That is all.

Have fun during the third golden age of Greece! :-D (almost every city is celebrating WLTK day! :)
