I expected some DLCs for the base civ on day 1... Do I understand correctly there are none besides preorder Aztecs? I haven't bought the game.

That's really weird for me, I was very convinced there will be some additional civ DLC (such as civ5 Babylon) (probably Poland), or additional maps/scenarios (suggested by preorder descripyion) yet there doesn't seem to happen.

Only the Aztecs. Mind you, Babylon (and the Mongols) was also released a month after the release of Civ 5.

I expect something similar here. Two, maybe three DLC this year, the rest next year.

They probably fear the shitstorm that would happen.
Many people think content that is ready by release day should always be included in the release version.
They probably want to to avoid comments like "has been cut out of the release version due to greed" or "they sell an incomplete product"

Yes, this. It happens every time.

I expect that Poland will come out in about a month and Isabella to coincide with Aztecs being available to non-pre-ordered accounts in 90 days.

And rightfully so!

Given that they said they literally worked on the game until the very last day, and given that parts of the game still look very unfinished, I would be pretty upset if they had Day1-DLC ready to go.
That works with cosmetic stuff where you can justify that the Art team had already finished their part of the game and was therefor given something extra to do, it doesn't work with stuff that actually needs coding.

if it's going to be similar to Civ 5, then support will be till 2020 since Civ 5 had 2 expansion packs for DLC as well

At least. All civ games since Civ 2(?) had two expansion packs. Also both Civ 4 and Civ 5 had patches at least 4 years after release.
I expect a similar life expectancy for Civ 6.

OOC why did you expect such a thing?

That's very popular thing for modern bug games to have day 1 dlcs (total wars had them, paradox games had them, civ5 had them, both new deus ex had them etc) and this whole preorder/deluxe stuff for civ6 with wording like "DLCs containing new features, leaders and maps included!" I thought this game will have not even one but several of them.

On top of all that, I was 90% sure Poland will be day 1 dlc civ - not only it was in the leader picture leak, but the launch trailer contains like 20 seconds of [very distinctive] Polish hussars... Without Poland itself in the game? Weird :p

Semi-regular reminder that the people who work on specific pieces of DLC probably aren't responsible for the unfinished parts you're talking about.

I wonder if any traces of the future DLC are present in the game files currently

References to Queen Jadwiga were actually found in the code ;)
I expect her to be in the first or second DLC.

Ah I didn't consider that. Yeah someone at Firaxis is a fan of Polish history. I fully expect them to be in early DLC too because of the poster but I guess I didn't think day 1.

I'm actually thinking we will get a map pack very soon. The number of maps so far is pretty small and a lot of my favorites are not in.

I imagine the first DLC pack will appear in about a month or so, to coincide with xmas sales. That way they might convince anyone still on the fence to go for the game at a 10% discount or whatever + the first DLC
