DMI IX - The Vampire Lord and the Tower of Mastery (FfH2)

Ouch. I don't think anything could have been done. That was sone stack.

The madman continues to hole up in Nubia, occasionally bringing out small stacks that are easily accounted for.

Rosier the Fallen has joined the front lines as well.

Code of Laws is learned and Feudalism has already been queued.

Hyborem is revealed. I trade him Military Strategy and his world map for Deception.

Perpy makes a fatal mistake by trying to attack a second city with Rosier unescorted.

Our Host of the Einherjar wounds him enough for a bloodpet to finish him off :goodjob:

Picks us a whopping 27xp as well.

A small stack of well promoted swords enters our lands and heads for Adonias. We thin it with summons and the uber bloodpet and bombard it with our catapult but it could be dicey.

Things just keep on improving here NOT! Our uber blood pet is destroyed and Hyborem declares. He is the far south of Perpy so is far away.

Next turn I clear the invasion but we lost 5 bloodpets from the CR swords. I have cleared the way to take Nubia back but we will be stretched going much further on the offensive until vampires (only 6 turns). The mad one won't talk.

After that we should consider heading towards Fanatacism for Losha Valas or Smelting and Iron Working for stronger troops. If we're ever at peace we need Sanitation for clearing jungle. We can trade for Tracking and make a play for Feral Bond and the Baron as well. I didn't really look at any trades but can probably consider Military Strategy to Mahala for Tracking.

There is a desperate shortage of Adepts, we need to expand our empire (violently or peacefully doesn't matter we are the smallest).

The war effort hopefully has turned. We should be able to slowly turn the screws on Perpentach and take back our city at least and then hopefully push on. His empire is huge compared to ours so he may still have a few stacks in store. Use summons first and then mop up.

The AC is climbing, raze AV cities if we have the chance.

Mahala has enough on her hands which might be worth keeping an eye on.

Great set Ozzy. Neat work on stopping Perpentach's onslaught and even killing Rosier. :goodjob: If once we gain Vampires and our hero Losha, we'll take revenge on the Clown...

Crud, I'm going out of town and don't have time to play this evening. I'll have to take a skip. This turnset looked to be a lot of fun/pain.

Ok Got it, will post thoughts etc tonight and have a report up by Friday.

Key point in the game so don't be shy with your views..

Ralph

OK Looks like

1. We have enough to re take and hold Nubia after Oz's cracking works and alongside that

2. Governor's Mansions in cities ready for Vampires post Feudalism + squeeze in some adepts

3. For post Feudalism research I am torn between the Options Oz lays out
a) Tracking for Military Strategy from Mahala -> Feral Bond
b) Smelting Iron Working for the long term benefits

Any strong preferences?

Ralph

Actually my first preference would be Fanatacism for Losha Valas but can't remember how long it would take. Smelting (if it doesn't take very long) is a good option to reveal any iron, if there is any.

I also think we need to start filling up our area with more cities as well, as well as take whatever we can off Perpentach.

lurker's comment:
Thinks about signing up for the sub spot . . . looking for a change of pace from my trio of bloodspot SGs :hammer: . . . should i . . .

@pholk:

If you'd like to join I'd gladly put you on the roster... :)

certainly, though, i'm an FfH noob ~ as in, most things have to be explained to me ~ i don't want to slow the game down or make it tedious.

reverend_oats -- skipped
Ralph Jackson >> UP NOW sharpening the fangs
Monkeyfinger -- on CFC absence

oh, you and your rapist' wit.

I mean, rapier's

Sorry for the slight delay but beer and curry after work were just too tempting.

So I decided to follow Ozbenno’s fanaticism path because Losha Valas is so in theme.

Now early on we had enough troops on hand to retake Nubia and after a couple of turns we duly did..

Now although we could hold Nubia I couldn’t see anyway to push forward from there so basically turtled until we could get vampires on stream.

A few trade opportunities cropped up in particular

The tracking trade discussed previously and we also picked up Priesthood from Sandalphon who seems to be developing into a decent trading partner

As this would get us to fanaticism sooner seemed well worthwhile. Although he cancelled some existing ones he was then ready to renegotiate some useful ones for us like this..

Meanwhile small stacks from the mad clown where appearing at Nubia which we held off but Hyborem’s Sect of Flies were harder but we have held the city and gone through Feudalism to get Vampires on Stream and I continued to Fanaticism which seemed a good handover point.

We now have our first couple of Vampires moving to the front and are building Losha Valas in the capital.

Smelting selected but no beakers invested

Here is the tech position.

With losing some Moroi / Bloodpets resisting counter attacks we aren’t ready to go on the offensive yet but hopefully will soon.

WE are slowly building a settler for a fill in city in the southwest for Corn and Elephants.
