DMI V - Fata Morgana (BtS)

I suspect that Imhotep has engineered us a fortress by adding the sea and the mountains. If the AIs are permanently at war with each other then that will slow them down considerably. This makes it very different to a standard AW game.

I think the solution to this game is to settle and defend our patch while teching towards Jans and then aiming to sweep the map clear of classical and medieval units.

HE IS COMING FOR YOU!

These words have haunted my days and nights.

At first I feared that cursed Sulemain was who the child was refering to.

But then I realised there are others out there.

It will be you Sulemain. I know that in my heart. I still bring down curses on you.

Civ4ScreenShot0002.jpg

Yet you have proved resourceful.

Civ4ScreenShot0003.jpg

And you have surrounded yourself with great people.

Civ4ScreenShot0004.jpg

I see you staring across the river, wondering what may be on the other side.

I hope you never find out.

OK, some game talk.

Didn't think we could take Madrid without catatpults, so I put 2 axes on all the food squares, hoping to strave Madrid and squeeze Izzy's finances. She, of course, moved 3 archers out with a settler, leaving just 4, so I took it from her.

Research is on Mathematics (for reasons above) but maybe need to switch to Meditation (4 turns) to get Monastery and spread Buddhism. I'd switch religions in any case.

Great Prophet is on its way to Madrid, Great General hasn't done anything (merge would probably be best).

It would be a stretch on the finances but I'd settle that city on the river and try and get across.

May need to get a scouting axe back east to find the other AI.

A roster is in order, I believe ...

The most recent one I can find is this

Imhotep >> will enter the game after the 2nd round of turnsets
GreyFox >> JUST PLAYED
berserks01 >> UP NOW for 10 turns
Ozbenno >> ON DECK for 10 turns
pindicator
pigswill
tycoonist >> SKIPPED

So, Pindicator is UP.

Whew! For a minute there I thought I missed another one. I know I'm forgetful, but not THAT bad :p

Got another (overdue) SG to play. I'll check in after I've played that one and I'll take the game if pindicator hasn't shown up in the meantime.

Got it. Had a look. Basically same conclusion as last time: doing fine for military but economy is in a mess. Unit costs are high, we don't have anything to build atm except military.

We could send out some axes on an exploration/pillaging expedition.

We should get the shrine soon, unless our Prophet gets killed by man-eating gazelles. I'm wondering if we should go for meditation, monasteries and missionaries.

Played 10 turns.
Didn't build another city.
Economy is slightly better.
Merged GG in capital as MI.
Running a couple of scientists for GS, due in 12.
Shrine has been founded. Madrid can whip a monastery next turn.
Zara's turned up. Lurking to the east just out of sight.
We lost two axes, killed a few barbs and a couple of Ethiopians.
Researched meditation then back to maths, due in 5 I think.

The Roster:

Imhotep >> ON DECK for 10 turns
GreyFox
berserks01
Ozbenno
pindicator
pigswill >> JUST PLAYED
tycoonist >> UP NOW for 10 turns

And yes, we should all upgrade to 3.13. I've done so yesterday late night...

pretty dull set really, the most exciting thing that happened was this:

Enemyarmy.jpg

this was easily dispersed. as we have nothing else to use them on, i threw less experienced axes at the stack and had quite bad luck. despite this the stack was eventually annihilated and on the last turn we popped Sun Tzu in Edrine. i left him unmoved for the next player.

thanks to this, there is now a small stack outside Madrid, ready to rape and pillage our enemies' land

Revolt.jpg

slave revolt. i hate this one and it seems to happen all the time. the best option is normally the middle one IMO, if you have the cash.

As with guesses, they often go awry. I will skip myself due to work (everybody loves sunday work  ) and chime in after GreyFox. That said, the Fox is up...
