DMI X - A noble way to Deity

That's weird.... I just went back and tried to open the save (from the forums) and it doesn't work for me either. For some reason it seems to think it is a GIF file. I am not sure what is up with that. Does it work for anyone?

When I get home tonight I will check and see if I still have the original save on my hard drive at home, then bring it in.

On further investigation, I discover that it isn't just my last save with this problem. Other saves (even ones that worked for me previously) are not opening correctly. I tried a number of different SG saves I have posted and some others have posted and some work and some do not

I was also getting clear.gif , but now I managed to download it. It looks that CFC had some problems some hours ago ( I tried to log all morning without sucess ).

Ok, will play tonight......

Ok, the game throwed us what the yankees call “a curve ball”. Peace is no longer a option…
But first things first.
We made peace with the Dutch and OBed the Indians:

The map of the Dutch showed us something interesting:

Monty ;) Isolated deity Monty….. I’m betting in 345374768642 jaguars .
I continued making stuff ( especially non-siege military ) and then came the worst news that we could listen:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0077.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0078.jpg

This is clearly bad news… and means that we need to go back to war fast to put willem back to oblivion ( and fast, since he’s trailing to rifling ). And if you think this was enough, prepare yourself:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0079.jpg

Willem forced Han to share his knowledge of Chemistry…. We are going to face a even match and since we are going to lose Han trades , this is going to get ugly.
My advice is simple: We have our GM in India ( just waiting to the right moment and for a hypothetical increase of pop of the Indian cities ) , upgrade some trebs to cannons and move against willem as soon as possible. Our game depends on it.

Wow! That looks brutal. I wish I had another great plan up my sleeve to pull out (y'know that secret strategy that increases beakers by 1000/turn) but since I don't, let's go finish Willem off, lest he finish us off at his leisure.

Hm, that doesn't look pretty. Another one on my list for this weekend...

I will be out of town starting this evening through the 27th, so I will need a skip(s) until I get back. Sorry, it's travel season at work combined with the only being allowed to take vacation during the summer.

Sorry guys, I was away for a couple of weeks without internet access and I somehow forgot to post here in advance. It's very late here, so I'll catch up with you tomorrow. I'll be ready to take my turnset when it comes.

The good news: The game ain't over yet and we have still our chance to get it done.

Seeing that we were at -13 gpt @ 30% science I took a look at our payroll.

Unit costs and maintenance are the biggest factors apart from Civic Upkeep. If we don't do anything about it we will soon see only the dust of the AI techwise. So I dismissed two Warriors and whipped Courthouses where they missed, and I consequently worked cottage tiles. As we couldn't afford more units I built research in our Capital to speed research up, and I worked on gold and science multiplying builds.

I also canceled the last two deals with Hannibal as we don't need the happiness.

I shuffled our GM around for a higher yield, but ended up with where he was at the beginning of the set. Oddly enough not even the size 17 capital Amsterdam yielded more than Paliputra, must be because of trade routes. Anyway I cashed in the 1500 bucks as we need them now.

Why do we need them ? Because of this:

Right, I went for that tech as it opens up Grenadiers, which are the easiest reachable stronger footsoldiers. Rifling is a long way, and we need stronger units now. I suggest upgrading all our army to Grenadiers and attack as soon as possible - but remember to put City raider promotions on each unit before upgrading.

We will have three strong stacks to deal with:

The next player should check if any of our three enemies has open borders with Asoka. If not, we can concentrate our forces in the northern cities. We have a GE in our Capital, but no wonder is available right now. I suggest either settling it in Madrid or saving it. Willy went Constitution > Corporation and hasn't discovered Rifling yet.

We're now break even @ 30% science, so my economic reshaping helped a little bit. We need to consider where we want the FP, Thracian might be a good spot.

I considered declaring more than once, rolo - but I saw those stacks and our economic situation. I think that we are in a better position now - CR Grenadiers mow down pretty anything before Cavalry/Infantry comes up. We just need to make sure to send some Pikes with the stack(s) for covering the Grenadiers from Knight attacks.
