DMI X - A noble way to Deity

Got it. Seems to be going on fine. I personally prefer TGLibrary, so I will continue us down that path.

Hanging Gardens seems fine, but I think we need at least one more worker.

Military can wait awhile. After, we still have 60 turns.

Will play in 12 hours, so keep suggestions/comments coming in.

Madrid can build the Hanging Gardens faster than we can research Literature, so getting the gardens and the Great Lib shouldn't be a problem. I don't think we'll have a big rush for the Library either since we're still on noble. So we could pop a worker out quick too.

Retrospectively, building a city closer to Asoka would have had less commerce potential but we would have had a forward front closer to him. At the very least, we need a worker with a guard to build road towards him at some point

Hmm ... I must gripe on something ...

How about griping on having nothing to :gripe:?

No?

Ok, IMHO, workers shouldn't be farming/cottaging on forest/jungles. Instead, we should always issue a chop first. This way, the chop would come first, while the farm/cottage would get built at the same turn.

That's exactly what I did, and a huge overflow goes to the garden.

We also had another automatic Judaism spread:

The turn Aesthetic comes in, Literature is chosen next.

DMIX-AD0001-aesethic.jpg

Note we can build ToA, but I didn't start that. The next player could, we still hold monopoly on it. But we did get a wonder ...

DMIX-AD0001-TGLight.jpg

... which reminds me that it has been a long while since I last seen a wonder movie

And to make things even better, I was treated to two of them!

DMIX-AD0125-Hanging.jpg

This immediately made Barcelona the next GP ... do we want a GSpy? I am not sure. As mentioned, we hold monopoly on Aesthetic, but these AIs doesn't seems like Noble at all. They are teching respectfully, at least one faraway Civ got CoL, while 3 of our neighbors get Alphabet.

DMIX-AD0025-Tech.jpg

That was 25AD. 25 years later, al our neighbors have Alphabet, quite a few has techs we don't have: construction, currency, calendar, monarchy:

DMIX-AD0125-tech.jpg

This makes it a good opportunity to trade a bit. I suggest we trade for Alphabet and Monarchy, then use Aesthetic+Monarchy to get Construction+Archery.

That was my last turn, which also see us getting Literature:

I chose Metal Casting next. Next player can ofcourse choose something else.

The addition of Hanging Gardens did not push Madrid to produce the next GP. It is still Barcelona. So I added a scientist in Madrid. We are not guaranteed of an engineer, so the next player may want to change the spear to TGLibrary, or even ToA. All these can be changed.

We are 10 turns away from the ascension to Deity, so we have to play carefully now. I think we may be able to afford both TGLibrary and ToA, thereafter one more settler might be good. Afterwhich, it should be military builds all the way.

Seems like a very good set, Mr. Fox :) .

Roster duty:

1. Imhotep
2. dazedroyalty
3. GreyFox >> JUST PLAYED
4. Strauss >> UP NOW
5. r_rolo1 >> ON DECK

6. MyOtherCar

Strauss, please remember to play only 10 turns. I'll jack the save then and switch our opponents to Deity mode. The King of Himself has then the doubtful pleasure of playing the 1st Deity turnset in this SG :D .

Oh, joy

I know that I started it, but , aren't we going a little too much wonderholic? IMHO we should already have a sizable army to knock Asoka in the beggining of the Deity age ;)

Got it. I have a graduation party tonight, so I'll be reading up/posting comments/playing tomorrow.

I don't remember having any workers farming/cottaging over jungle. If so, my bad. That is definitely a weedy thing to do. With forests, however, I will from time to time intentionally build a cottage or farm straight off to time the chop to contribute to the next building in that city. IIRC, I had set a to do that so the chops would go to the Hanging Garden instead of the aqueduct.

Bring on the Deity!

Ok, so I'll look to trade a bit with the AI and start the GL. I don't think there's much more I can do in 10 turns. I'll be playing in an hour or so.

I did manage to get Alphabet and Construction by trading, however Asoka refused to talk to us, so I didn't get Monarchy. I completed Metal Casting and started on Calendar (2 turns left).

Madrid is well underway building the Great Library and should be able to finish it before the AI. I've also built some military in the other cities.

The workers SW of Madrid were sent to chop the forest outside the BFC to speed up the GL.

The AI has some new techs that we could be able to trade for.

I'll leave that up to the next player.

Welcome to Deity, gentlemen !

Unfortunately we lost 6 turns of our TGL build as the counters got reset. But that holds for the AI too, so no harm there... Let the fun begin ! :) Please use the save attached at this posting.

Or open the WB save as a scenario and change the difficulty on the screen, which is what I did :D

I would wait a while before trading ... since we hold two monopolies but there are only two main techs we want (Monarchy and Currency). If you must trade, I say trade away Literature for both Monarchy and Currency, and keep metal casting.

Speaking of which, I know we should switch to military mode and declare 40 turns later, but can we squeeze in one more wonder ... Colossus? [please] :groucho:

Ok , I started this ( will not finish it now, 2 am in here  ), and i a have question to the team:

I finished calendar and have a tech choice to make. I'm personally divided between CoL and Currency ( 10 and 9 turns ATM ( 60 %.... Deity gave us a shake ) ).... more inclined to Currency. Other option is Theo, but we'll not get christiany ( thanks stupid bug that makes the game think that we are in a advanced start (or something like that ) and starts assigning religions.... )...

So what? Theo or cash?

I would go CoL. Theo is nice in preparation for war, but I think we should be able to manage with phants.

Currency can be traded for. Unlikely to use Lit since Currency is much more expensive (like twice), so we have to use metal casting as barter. This means we will have to wait a bit ... for more AI techs to trade for, and also for ourselves to build the Colossus (that is if we are interested in that bronze figure to accompany the stone tower).

I'd prefer CoL too. We can whip in Courthouses to help with maintenance, increase our EP and with the overflow build units. We'll need Currency soon too, but I guess CoL is of a higher priority.
