DMI X - A noble way to Deity

I would have preferred to swallow up the entire Indian land, but I guess capitulation is fine. The danger of Asoka capping to Williem is minimal, since Asoka hate Williem. But shoule Williem declare on Asoka as well, then we must hasten.

The danger is Will DoWing on us wile we are still fighting India.

Ok, I started playing......

A question:

I played some turns and.....
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0070.jpg

Do we continue with the war now? or we make a cease fire and get some more army?

Not so sure if it is handable......

Either way , i'll post what I played so far:

First thing I did was to burn the GE in a GA. Decided to go Merc as suggested:

Civ4ScreenShot0067.jpg

We got a GG from defending vs knights ( having cannons as best defenders is not good :( )

Made a mil Acad in site.

A useless event....

By some reason I never get this one when I actually want to get DR :(

Pressed enter and.....

Asoka got rifling and insta-upgraded his garrisons.....

And that is why I stopped ... some looks at the enemy garrisons:

Any of this ones is a though nut to crack for our current stack......
especially if we get stormed by those knights ( we have not much of pikes :( ) before we get to any city.

As I only played 3 turns, I am willing to play some more of the turnset, but I feel that continuing this war or not is a matter that requires the whole team consensus. As i already implied before, I think we need some turns, to be able to upgrade our trebs to cannons and to fatten the stack a little, so a ceasefire would be IMHO advisable.

So, peace or not?

If you can get a ceasefire it would be worth it if only for upgrading the Trebs. Castle-powered cities are a PITA with trebs...

Sorry for being so postponing and to playing so slow.....

I only played some turns ( we're still in the golden age) , but we have a serious situation in hands.

Basically:

Civ4ScreenShot0006.jpg

Willy entered in hands full and it is trailing to infantry ( he'll get Ass line in 9 turns ). Our army is standing in Delhi, fully upgraded and just waiting for order to enter in India again ( BTW India is in War with Monty ). I think we can get to Rotherdam before it gets infantries and to cut out his SoD down.

Ideas? I'm not very confident in our ability to tackle this.... willy choosed well his moment :(

@rolo:

Is this a handover or are you playing some more turns ?

Sorry for the delay, but IMHO shifting target is a thing that needs assetment of the team and if we don't move fast we may be in deep sh...t.

Anyway, Monty asked for help:

The Indian-Aztec war is not being rethorical:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0017.jpg

We obviously don't have time for a Indian war now...

If you looked to the last screenie with a eagle eye, you noticed that Willy research has became slower ( passed from 9 turns 3 turns ago to 12 now ). This is the reason:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0018.jpg

Willy got cavs... this only make the attack more prement, since cavs trounce cannons... he has not upgraded most of the knights to cavs yet, but we should expect it soon.

Well, played some more turns and our stack is near the border, unmoved. Here are the oposing forces:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0019.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0020.jpg

We have a spy in Rotherdam and we'll be able to revolt it when our stack gets there.... my big concern is the cavs. But we need to move fast.....

Either way, the next player has some
cool19.gif
to do ;)

Roster duty:

1. Imhotep >> UP NOW
2. dazedroyalty >> ON DECK

3. GreyFox
4. Strauss
5. r_rolo1 >> JUST PLAYED
6. MyOtherCar >> on permaskip for 2 weeks

How convenient. The player who started all gets to end all :) . I fear those Cavs will put an quick end to our offensive, but there is nothing we can do about it. Better tackle Willy now before he got Infantry...

Update: As expected Willy's stack grinded our stack into dust. We have no offensive force left. I had to go in as I waited two turns for him to attack and move his stack, but he was just sitting there and waiting for Infantry. Monty declared on us too and landed a SoD, which could be repelled barely. I'd say we call it a day and leave this SG, we're far behind in tech and have no chance to win the war.

* Throw in the tower *

The noble start did not give us any significant advantage ... and the later deity stage is too much to bear. This calls for a replay, this time without the no-war rule. But seeing that DMI-XII has been started, I understand if you do not want to do it. (My 3 weeks no-civ period is looming around the corner anyway).

I don't think the no-war rule was the deciding factor. What broke the game was the unlucky fact that Willem usurped both Ragnar and Hannibal so quickly and became a super-power. If not for that we would have had a fair shot...

I don't think I'll replay that scenario again, but anyone is free to do so ;) .
