DMOC's GIANT Game!

 That's not even fair. My map generator hates me.

Lol, sure ^^. I'm generally a fan of your post so don't take it the wrong way =D, but I'm just saying.........

You already have 2 cities with a combined 7 gems - sure you haven't worked them due to jungle yet, but they will be very powerful. Plus, you have TGLH with an obscene amount of other civilizations which means every single city you have will have good foreign trade routes for every additional trade route you have - something which normally doesn't happen later in the game do to a lack of AI cities. If you get the full 7 trade routes per city later in the game every single one of them can have ALL AI routes - which is not normally the case.

This game will be very simple for you ^^.

I know, but that's what makes it fun for me anyway. :goodjob: And I only have 5 gems - the other city that is SETTLED ON TOP OF GEMS #$%@!!!! is Hammurabi's. What was he thinking?!?

(I'm also hoping that immortal AI's will have enough of a bonus in this game.)

Off-topic, but what is the mod you use which shows you when a city is going to grow, become unhappy, when a GP is about to be born, etc.?

B.U.G. Mod.

Please turn off the date colors in BUG mod. They make the date unreadable.

Yeah I've been getting around to that. I'll remember this.

I note you are using the BUG mod, and on a big map too. On my system, when I tried out a Mod (it may have been the HoF mod), I noticed the game slowed to a crawl at in the 20th century, with all the cities and units around at that time.

Never figured that out. Noticed a while back that things where slowing down, but I hadn't figured it out. Just makes scene really, thanks a lot.

Might have to try a shadow of this sometime soon. I am barely an emperor so it will not turn out well, but might be good for the laughs. Looking forward to seeing more of this!

Sorry to be off-topic;
I use a quad core at 2.4Ghz, 4gig of beasty RAM, powerful graphics card and Vista streamed lined to run only necessary processes (it runs VERY fast) and the B.U.G, BAT and Blue Marble mod/s do slow it down a lot compared to the standard unmodded and Blue Marble game. But i've grown so used to BUG I hate playing without it.

I look forward to following this game DMOC, I always get bored and frustrated playing these maps, once the empire is far-flung I lack the effort to manage it efficiently (micro wise etc).

Granted, I think I've actually read this somewhere else before-but you're only 16!?! For whatever reason, you come off as "older" when I read your posts. Maybe it's the simple placement of the "mathematician", I don't know.

I'll be 17 in August, as I mentioned in the first post.

I would benefit from 800x600 images 1024px stretches my forums.

Sorry about that. This was the case with me, but I switched to a larger resolution and now 1024 px images are only 2/3rds of the way across my screen. I could do that, but I think most of the viewers would like larger screenshots since you can see things more clearly.

So how big is the map square X square?
:/

152 x 96 (screenshot 1). A Huge map is something like 100 x 60 I think?

:goodjob:

I didn't use BUG though, but BUG will save lots of time with the large number of civs.

Is this because of the improved user interface, minimising a menu click-fest (checking whips, trades etc) every turn ? Perhaps I'll download it....

Sorry about the off-topic (though it does slightly fit, due to the giant-ness of the map), but I often have to concede games that become unplayable, especially 20th century wars, and I was wondering how you coped...

If it spams your thread too much I'll shut up and start a new thread

isn't there even bigger maps around? like 260x140 or something?
i wonder what kind of computer you need to play those maps... :/

Don't worry. My topics are nowhere near the popularity that the ALCS had so there's no 50 pages of random stuff. And anyway, I like to have any comments (except comments like "DMOC sucks" or something) on my threads. :goodjob: To refer to another question of yours, BUG is great in that it shows WHEOOHRN statuses of ALL known AI's (provided several circumstances are met). Before BUG, I would check WHEOOHRN every turn. That is the main reason why I used BUG. Another main reason is the Great Person meter, so I don't have to hunt down each city to see how many turns are left for a certain great person. All in all, a great time saver.

I cope by my fast computer and my dedication to finishing the game for viewers like you. Say, didn't that sound like that PBS announcement where they say "viewers like..." all right you get the point.

The main reason I didn't use a 260 x 140 map (or whatever the maximum size override there was for the map script I used) was because I wanted to post the savegame up here so that a few people could shadow if they wished to do so. A larger map would reduce the number of shadows.

Do you need a mod of some sort to play maps this big? whenever I try to load this map, it flashes something along the lines of decompression error and shuts down.

Yet another reason why I normally don't play many games to completion or past Liberalism, and certainly not many Large maps or bigger! - my system slows down more than I like now that I use BUG. When I'm not playing a forum game my standard settings are small, pangea - and even then, I play so slow it takes me 5-6 hours to finish a game, lol.

I think this map script I am using comes with B.U.G.

The games I've finished (around 10-20 total from monarch to deity) usually last around 10-20 hours.

DMOC SUCKS!!!

(Couldn't resist)

Best Deal you can do for your Civ 4 computer is MORE RAM...

I play HUGE MAPS, BUG 3.6 BLUE MARBLE etc, runs fine, no lag, no nothing.

I have a 3 Ghz comp, 4 meg ram and 128??what ever Video card.

What i don't have, is ability to play above Emperor level, but then again, I'm really only now LEARNING how to play properly.

Oh, continents I can dominate, but ISOLATED, I really want to dominate that level.

5 Gems, Riverside, Hills. Levy=sick. Screams Bureaucracy capital to me. All you need now is to found a Religion there.
