I know your game with these 2 threads, you are just trying to show that paper towels and napkins aren't in the same equivalence class due to the non-commutative nature of the "Do X make good Y" argument.
I tried using the plunger and got a router from Fred Meyer for 2 hours. Then I researched on the internet home tricks on the subject; Pour a liberal amount of dish soap into the bowl and then pour a pot of boiling water in. I kept repeating the process until I could finally work it loose!
Paper towels are too heavy to make good paper napkins... but they don't really have the class of cloth napkins when a polite dinner is taking place. So they're sub-optimal in both situations.
